Player of the Week
Brian Sanchez, Molloy
Junior | Third Base | Merrick, N.Y.
Sanchez had himself a career-week for the Lions, hitting .579 (11-for-19) while slugging .632 and getting on base at a .609 clip. Through five games this week, Sanchez drove in a run in four-of-five games to total 11 RBI while scoring four times. The junior etched himself in the Molloy record book, tying a single-game record of six hits against Staten Island while driving five runs in game one of Saturday's doubleheader. As an encore, Sanchez put together a three-hit, four-RBI game in game two against the Dolphins to solidify the Lions' sweep.
Pitcher of the Week
James Sill, Molloy
Junior | RHP | Levittown, N.Y.
Sill set the tone in Molloy's, 8-3, ECC opening victory over Queens on Friday. The junior sat down 13 straight from the last out of the first inning through the fifth in the contest, improving to 3-1 on the season while tossing eight innings allowing one run on three hits and striking out a season-high 10 in 87 pitches.
Rookie of the Week
Justin Chong, Queens
Freshman | INF | Staten Island, N.Y.
Rookie infielder Justin Chong paced the Knights’ offense, hitting .400 with a .429 on-base percentage and .700 slugging percentage. He recorded a team-high eight hits, including four doubles and one triple, while scoring four runs, driving in two, and stealing two bases. Chong hit safely in all five games, posting three multi-hit performances and totaling 14 bases. He played a key role in Queens’ win over Molloy, recording a multi-hit game and scoring an insurance run as the Knights shut out Molloy for the first time in program history.

Mihir Manerikar, D'Youville
Junior | Pitcher | Mississauga, Ontario
Mihir Manerikar pitched 2.2 scoreless innings to close out the first game with a win at Mercy, allowing 3 hits and striking out 3. Mihir showed great command, working his way through the order in an 8-4 win to earn the Saints their lone victory of the weekend.
Billy Morris, D'Youville
Senior | RHP/INF | Lancaster, N.Y.
Billy Morris added to his own school record with his 18th career win at Mercy on Friday. He tossed 6.1 innings, allowing 8 hits and 3 earned while striking out 3. He added to his day at the plate, contributing 5 hits across the two games at Mercy, including the 200th hit of his DYU career. Through 4 games this weekend at Mercy and STAC, Morris finished 9/16 at the plate with 3 Runs Scored and 2 RBI's.
Ryan DiNapoli, Mercy
Sophomore | Pitcher | Yorktown Heights, N.Y.
DiNapoli pitched 4.0 innings with two runs allowed and one strikeout to earn the win in Mercy's 3-2 game two win over Queens on Saturday.
Nevin Scaperotti, Mercy
Junior | Pitcher | Stormville, N.Y.
Scaperotti hit a team-high .556 (5-for-9) with two RBI, two runs, and one double as Mercy went 3-1 on the week. The junior also went 1-0 on the mound with a seven-inning complete game and six strikeouts to earn the win over D'Youville in game two on Friday. Scaperotti went 5-for-6 with two RBI, two runs and one double in Mercy's game one win over Queens on Saturday.
Jeremy Taggart, Molloy
Senior | Catcher | Levittown, N.Y.
Taggart hit .566 and slugged .889 this week, highlighted on Saturday where he collected four hits, four runs, and four RBI while belting his first home run of the season against Staten Island.
Michael Vilardi, Queens
Junior | RHP | Masspequa, N.Y.
Junior right-hander Mike Vilardi delivered a career performance, tossing his third career complete game and first career shutout. The Massapequa native allowed just five hits and one walk while striking out five in a 2-0 victory. Vilardi retired 11 straight batters at one point and held off a late rally to help Queens earn its first ECC win of the season.
C.J. Cumbo, St. Thomas Aquinas
Graduate | Infielder/Outfielder | East Meadow, N.Y.
Cumbo helped the Spartans with a .333 (4-for-12) batting average and spectacular all-around play. The STAC grad student scored ten runs, drove in four RBI, stroked a pair of homers and a double, and stole a base. He was also walked four times en route to a 4-0 mark in home contests against Staten Island and D'Youville this past weekend.
Michael Flashner, Staten Island
Sophomore | Infielder/Outfielder | Staten Island, N.Y.
In the four-game week for the Dolphins, Flashner went 8-16 at the plate with three runs, one double, one home run (his first of the season) and two RBI. His best performance in the week was against Molloy when he went 5-8 at the plate two runs, his home run, and two RBI.
Jason Romance, Staten Island
Freshman | First Base | Massapequa Park, N.Y.
In the ECC opening week for the Dolphins, Romance competed in all four of the contests in the previous week. Against St. Thomas Aquinas College on Friday, he finished the doubleheader going 5-9 at the plate with four runs, one triple, and a homerun. The next day against Molloy, he notched his second home run in two days in game one of the doubleheader and for the day he went 2-4 with two RBI.
