Player of the Week
C.J. Cumbo, St. Thomas Aquinas
Graduate | IF/OF | East Meadow, N.Y.
Cumbo helped the Spartans with a .692 (9-for-13) batting average and outstanding all-around play. The STAC grad student scored three runs, drove in 11 RBI, stroked a home run and two doubles, and stole three bases. He was also walked twice en route to a 3-1 mark against Holy Family this past weekend.

Christopher Naronis, Queens
Senior | RHP | Floral Park, N.Y.
Senior right-hander Chris Naronis delivered a career-best performance Sunday as the Knights secured a 7–3 victory over regionally ranked No. 7 Goldey-Beacom College. Naronis earned his first career complete-game victory, allowing six hits, three earned runs, and two walks while striking out a career-high seven. The Floral Park native recorded five consecutive scoreless innings before the Lightning tied the game at 3–3 in the bottom of the sixth. After Queens reclaimed the lead in the top of the seventh, Naronis returned to the mound and closed out the game by retiring the side in order, including back-to-back strikeouts.
Rookie of the Week
Justin Chong, Queens
Freshman | INF | Staten Island, N.Y.
Rookie infielder Justin Chong enjoyed a strong debut series, batting .500 with a .611 on-base percentage and .857 slugging percentage. The Queens Village native totaled seven hits, including two doubles and a home run, while drawing four walks, scoring four runs, and driving in four. Chong accumulated 12 total bases and three extra-base hits during the four-game series against Goldey-Beacom. He also produced a four-game hitting streak and two multi-hit games, highlighted by a career-best 3-for-4 performance with a double, one run scored, and two RBI in the 7–3 victory.
ECC Weekly Honor Roll
Billy Morris, D'Youville
Senior | Pitcher/Shortstop | Lancaster, N.Y.
Morris batted .313 while earning a win on the mound for the Saints throughout five games last week. The DYU senior star went 5-for-16 at the plate with two doubles and four RBI while tossing seven innings with nine strikeouts in a win over Felician. In the doubleheader against Felician, Morris hit 5-for-7 with four RBI and two runs scored.
John Nisco, Mercy
Senior | Outfielder | Tarrytown, N.Y.
Nisco hit a team-high .357 (5-for-14) with one run and one double in four games this week. The senior went 2-for-3 in game one at Pace on Friday. The outfielder then went 3-for-8 with a run and a double against Pace on Sunday.
Nevin Scaperotti, Mercy
Junior | Pitcher | Stormville, N.Y.
Scaperotti made one start on the mound against Pace on Sunday, going 5.0 innings with just two runs allowed and two strikeouts to take a no-decision.
James Sill, Molloy
Junior | Pitcher | Levittown, N.Y.
Sill improved to 2-1 on the year in Molloy's triumph over Post on Friday. The junior tossed six innings allowing one run on five hits and striking out eight.
Sean Welsh, Molloy
Senior | First Base | East Meadow, N.Y.
Welsh continued to stay hot in the heart of the Lions order in a 2-1 week. The senior collected a pair of multi-hit games highlighted on Sunday, reaching base in all five at bats totaling three hits and two walks while driving in a run. Welsh has upped his hitting streak to eight games and has driven in a run in his last four contests. On the week, the East Meadow native hit .545 (6-for-11), slugged .636, and drove in four runs while getting on base at a .643 clip.

John Harkins, Queens

Rookie center fielder John Harkins continued his hot stretch, batting .444 with a .500 on-base percentage and a .667 slugging percentage. The Babylon native led the team with eight hits and five runs scored, while adding a double, a home run, two walks, and four RBI. Harkins recorded three multi-hit games and two multi-RBI performances during the four-game series against the Lightning. In Sunday’s 7–3 win, he went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI, and one run scored.
Nick Chiaia, Staten Island
Graduate | Pitcher | Staten Island, N.Y.
Started against Holy Family on March 5th and secured his first win of the season at the mound after pitching 4.2 innings and striking out five.
Jamel Vera, Staten Island
Senior | Outfielder | Staten Island, N.Y.
Competed in all four games for the Dolphins last week and went 5-15 at the plate (.333) and recorded three runs, two doubles and two RBI.
