ECC Indoor Track and Field Report - Week One

Men's Track Athlete of the Week

CJ Johnson, Daemen
Junior | Distance | Baltimore, Md. 

Johnson won the mile at the Houghton December Classic, finishing in 4:30.35 (converted to 4:26.95) to earn gold over 42 other runners. It marked a PR for the junior and broke the program record that he previously held by just over a second. Johnson also placed third out of 21 in the 3000m, posting a time of 9:15.08 (converted to 9:08.70). Additionally, he helped the Wildcats' 4x400 relay team place seventh out of 10 with a time of 3:47.82, running as the third leg of the relay. Johnson’s mile time ranks second in the ECC and third in the NCAA East Region while his 3000m time ranks fifth in the ECC.


Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Gavin Kopf, St. Thomas Aquinas
Junior | Throws | Congers, N.Y.

Kopf opened his 2025-26 campaign with seven top-10 finishes, including two wins. The STAC junior thrower won the discus with a hurl of 41.46m (135' 0”), placed second in the shot put with a throw of 14.43m (47' 4.25”), and finished seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 42.52m (139' 6”) at the 12th Rock Throws Series. Kopf followed it up with spectacular performances on back-to-back days. First, Kopf placed sixth in the weight throw (15.36m/50' 4.75") and ninth in the shot put (13.65m/44' 9.5") at the FastTrack Season Opener before winning the weight throw (16.37m/53' 8.5") and finishing third in the shot put (14.09m/46' 2.75") at the TCNJ Winter Open. His weight throw mark (16.37m) and shot put mark (14.09m) from the TCNJ Winter Open both sit second in the ECC and top 10 in the NCAA East Region. 


Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Kyndra Hines, District of Columbia
Sophomore

Hines opened her indoor campaign in dominant fashion at the TCNJ Winter Open, delivering two conference-leading performances – including an NCAA national provisional qualifying mark and a new school record. Hines won the 60m hurdles in a field of 20 with a provisional qualifying time of 8.66, the fastest in the ECC this season and currently No. 2 in the NCAA East Region. The UDC sophomore also secured a second-place finish in a 60m field of 32 with a time of 7.83; she had clocked a 7.73 in the prelims, the best time of the day and also No. 1 in the ECC and No. 2 in the NCAA East Region. 


Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Karis Kraf, Roberts Wesleyan
Sophomore | Pole Vault | Tampa, Fla.

Kraf vaulted to the top of the Roberts Wesleyan pole vault crew with a winning effort at the season-opening Ice Breaker Meet at Youngstown State in Ohio. She was the lone competitor to clear the four-meter mark with a winning jump of 4.11 meters (13' 5 3/“4), which qualifies her for NCAAs. The mark was a personal-best effort and a meet record. The mark is ranked third in the nation after the first week of competition, trailing only Grand Valley State’s Brooke Bowers (4.17m) and Pittsburg State’s Isabelle Peters (4.15m). Kraf was first overall out of 15 vaulters in the seeded group at the meet.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men's
Diego Arellano Jasso, Roberts Wesleyan
Sophomore | Multi | Brockport, N.Y.

Arellano Jasso opened the season with a seventh place finish overall in the heptathlon at the season-opening Liberty Kickoff Meet in Lynchburg, Va. The RWU sophomore finished seventh out of 13 competitors with a score of 4,429 points. He recorded personal best marks in the 60m (7.61 seconds), shot put (10.36m/34' 0"), 60m hurdles (8.93 seconds), and 1000m (2:57.83). His 60m hurdles time ranks fifth in the ECC while the 1000m sits sixth. 

Peter Bagattine, Molloy
Junior | Bay Shore, N.Y.

Bagattine started his campaign on a high note this past Saturday at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational. Bagattine experienced success in multiple events as he set personal best for both the 1000m and 3000m. Bagattine completed the 1000m in 2:42.01, earning him eighth out of 14 competitors. Bagattine completed the 3000m in 9:04.88, earning him third out of 28 competitors. Not only did Bagattine set personal bests in both events, but he also topped Division II competitors in both events. His 1000m tops the ECC, while his 3000m ranks third in the ECC and ninth in the NCAA East Region. 

Justus Behne, St. Thomas Aquinas
Freshman | Sprints/Hurdles | Bottrop, Germany

Behne opened the season by setting new school records in the 60 meter hurdles on back-to-back days. At the Fastrack Season Opener, the STAC freshman turned in a 60m hurdles time of 8.41 for eighth and added a seventh-place finish in the 200m (22.42). The following day at the TCNJ Winter Open, Behne topped the 60m hurdles preliminaries field (8.35) before placing fourth in the final (8.45). He also ran the third leg of the 4x400m relay that placed 11th (3:37.46) at TCNJ. Behne’s prelims 60m hurdles time of 8.35 leads the ECC and ranks third in the NCAA East Region this indoor season, while his 200m time of 22.42 ranks second in the conference and sixth in the NCAA East Region.

David Crews, Molloy
Junior | Jamaica, N.Y. 

Crews kicked off his junior campaign with a bang this past Saturday at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational. Crews competed in numerous events; however, his greatest success came in the long jump event. Crews topped all Division II competitors as his 6.78m (22' 3”) was good for second overall in an event featuring 14 competitors. The mark ranks second in the ECC and sixth in the NCAA East Region.

Jackson Doran, Roberts Wesleyan
Graduate Student | Distance | Lockport, N.Y.

Doran placed second overall in the 3000m race at the Youngstown State Icebreaker Meet in Ohio over the weekend. The RWU graduate student clocked a time of 8:45.61 to finish second out of 26 runners. The time tops the ECC and ranks second in the NCAA East Region this year.

Devin Jones, Felician
Graduate Student | Jumps | Neptune, N.J.

Jones won the 60m and long jump at the FDU Knights Midweek Clash on December 3. His 60m dash was 6.96 seconds out of six runners, and his long jump marked 7.25m, qualifying for NCAAs. At the Fasttrack Season Opener on December 5, Jones placed fourth in the long jump at 7.05m.

Ethan Keating, Daemen
Junior | Distance | Wooster, Ohio 

Keating won the 5000m at the Houghton December Classic in a field of 20 runners. The Daemen junior crossed the finish line with a personal-best time of 15:33.16, which ranks third in program history. Converted to 15:23.27, Keating’s 5000m time ranks second in the ECC. 

Mark Linton, Georgian Court
Junior | Throws | Orange Bay, Jamaica

Linton threw his way into the ECC top-five in two events last weekend at the Fastrack Season Opener. The ECC Preseason Co-Athlete of the Year recorded a weight throw mark of 16.82m (55’ 2 1/4”) on his first attempt, which was good for second in the competition in a field of 32 and currently leads both the ECC and the NCAA East Region. Linton finished eighth in the shot put in a field of 36 with a mark of 13.79m (45’ 3”), which sits fourth in the conference. 

Brandon Rudder, Georgian Court
Sophomore | Sprints | Jersey City, N.J.

Rudder opened the season with a win in the 300m dash, running 35.18 to place first in a field of 46 competitors at the Fastrack Season Opener. The time is a new Georgian Court program record in the event.

Daizhae' Brown, Georgian Court
Freshman | Multi | Mays Landing, N.J.

Brown jumped her way into the GCU record books in her first meet and entered the Lions’ all-time top-10 in all three events in which she competed at the Fastrack Season Opener. Her third-place mark of 5.48m (17’ 11 3/4”) in the long jump field of 29 is second in the ECC and third in the NCAA East Region and her sixth-place triple jump mark of 11.05m (36’ 3”) is fifth in the ECC. Brown also ran 7.82 in the 60m, taking fifth out of 32 in the invitational portion of the race to sit second in the ECC. 

Adrianna Fodera, Georgian Court
Sophomore | Throws | Galloway, N.J.

Fodera had two top-10 finishes at the Fastrack Season Opener, placing third in a field of 27 in the weight throw (13.48m/44’ 2 3/4”), which ranks fourth in the ECC. She also finished seventh in the shot put (11.04m/36’ 2 3/4”) to sit third in the ECC. Both marks are indoor PRs for the GCU sophomore.

Kathleen Healy, Molloy
Senior | Malverne, N.Y. 

Healy has begun the season on a very impressive note, topping school records she herself previously set. This past Saturday, Healy competed at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational and dominated in the 3000m. Healy completed the run in 10:27.35, knocking more than a whole second off of her previous record. Healy finished second in the event, behind teammate Marie Naudus, in a field of 33 competitors; the 3-24 finishers in the race were all Division I runners. 

Rachel Horner-Richardson, Roberts Wesleyan
Senior | Distance | Cornish, N.H.

Horner-Richardson won the 3000m at the season-opening Nazareth Alumni Meet Friday night with a winning time and personal-best time of 10:17.62. The RWU senior was first out of 12 runners and had a time that ranks No. 1 in the NCAA East Region.

Emmanuela Katou Kouami, District of Columbia
Senior | Bronx, N.Y. 

Katou Kouami earned a victory in the weight throw at the TCNJ Winter Opener, placing first out of a field of seven competitors with an ECC-leading throw of 16.42m, which currently ranks third in the NCAA East Region.

Carly Koprowski, Queens
Junior | Middle Distance | Wantagh, N.Y.

Koprowski earned the top Division II finish in the 400m dash at the Fastrack Season Opener, placing third overall in 59.06, the fastest time among ECC opponents on the week and a new career best. Koprowski also competed in the 800m and placed third in 2:27.21.

Samantha Morrison, District of Columbia
Senior | St. Catherine, Jamaica 

Morrison had a strong season debut at the TCNJ Winter Opener, delivering standout performances on the track while rewriting the UDC record books. The UDC senior placed third out of 12 in the 1000m with a personal-best and school-record time of 3:02.42, a mark that currently leads the ECC. Morrison continued her strong day as the third leg of the Firebirds’ 4x400m “A” relay team, helping secure a third-place finish out of seven teams with an ECC- and NCAA East Region-leading time of 4:03.35.

Marie Naudus, Molloy
Graduate Student | Island Park, N.Y. 

Naudus had a tremendous outing this past Saturday at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational. Naudus not only set personal bests, but she also rewrote the program record books, shattering the previous 3000m record by nearly two whole seconds. Naudus's new personal best, 10:26.79, elevated her to a first-place finish in the event; in a field of 33 competitors; the 3-24 finishers in the race were all Division I runners. That time sits third in the ECC and NCAA East Region. 

Chimeremya Odoh, Felician
Sophomore | Sprints | Plainfield, N.J.

Odoh placed third in the 60m (7.95) at the FDU Knights Midweek Clash. At the Fasttrack Season Opener, Odoh placed fourth in a field of 52 in the 200m (25.92). Her 200m time ranks second in the ECC while her 60m sits fourth.

Kristen Oliver, Daemen
Junior | Throws | Massena, N.Y. 

Oliver placed second out of 31 in the weight throw with a final distance of 14.66m (48' 1 1/4”) at the Houghton December Classic. The mark ranks third in the ECC and seventh in the NCAA East Region. 

Zoe Shaw, District of Columbia
Senior | Kingston, Jamaica

Shaw delivered an impressive season debut at the TCNJ Winter Opener, posting top marks across three different field events while securing two podium finishes. The UDC senior won the triple jump with a mark of 11.05m (36' 3”), a performance that currently ranks fifth in the NCAA East Region. Shaw continued her impressive momentum in the high jump, placing third out of 13 competitors while clearing 1.63m (5’ 4 1/4”) - the top mark in both the ECC and the East Region to date. Shaw also placed third out of 20 in the long jump with a leap of 5.41m (17’ 9”), ranking third in the ECC and fourth in the NCAA East Region.

Adonijah Washington, Staten Island
Sophomore | Multi | Bronx, N.Y.

In the opening meet of the season at the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational, Washington set two school records. In the triple jump, Washington placed second in a field of 12 with a mark of 11.49m (37' 8.5”), which tops both the ECC and NCAA East Region.
