ECC Indoor Track and Field Report - Week 2

Men's Track Athlete of the Week

Peter Bagattine, Molloy
Junior | Bay Shore, N.Y.

Bagattine raced to a personal-best at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze this past Friday, completing the mile in 4:23.59 to place fifth in a field of 63 competitors. Bagattine's performance bested all Division II competitors, and that time currently tops the entire NCAA East Region. 


Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Devin Jones, Felician
Graduate Student | Jumps | Neptune, N.J.

Jones finished third in a field of 48 in the long jump (7.06m/23’ 2”) at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze. Jones is the only long jumper in the ECC this season to surpass 7.00m this indoor season, and he has done that three times at this point (Dec. 3, Dec. 5, Dec. 12). 


Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Carly Koprowski, Queens
Junior | Middle Distance | Wantagh, N.Y.

Competing this past Friday at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze, Koprowski won the 1000m in a field of 30 in 2:59.37, setting a new PR en route to a Queens program record. That ECC-leading time stands as the only sub-3:00 performance in the event in both the ECC and the NCAA East Region at this point of the indoor season.


Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Ava Shepherd, Molloy
Sophomore | West Hempstead, N.Y. 

Shepherd had herself a tremendous afternoon at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze on Friday, setting personal-bests in the high jump (1.58m, sixth out of 41) and triple jump (10.03m, 19th). Her high jump mark ties for second in both the ECC and NCAA East Region while her triple jump mark sits ninth in the ECC. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men's
Darwin Almonte, St. Thomas Aquinas
Freshman | Sprints/Hurdles | Haverstraw, N.Y.

Almonte set yet another St. Thomas Aquinas program record in the 60m hurdles, clocking an ECC-leading 8.30 to place second in a field of 31 at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze. That time currently sits second in the NCAA East Region.

Amair Buffaloe, Felician
Fifth Year | Sprints | Prospect Park, N.J.

Buffaloe competed at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze, clocking a 7.10 time in the 60m to place 26th out of 134. He also was a part of the eighth-place 4x200m relay team (field of 33) with a time of 1:31.69.

Djurabe Edmond, Molloy
Freshman | Westbury, N.Y.

In his second collegiate appearance, Edmond bested a record that has been standing at Molloy for over six years. This past Friday at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze, Edmond dominated the Lions’ previous weight throw record, recording a throw of 12.96m. The record-breaking performance earned Edmond a ninth-place finish in a field containing 42 competitors. Edmond also competed in the shot put, recording a mark of 11.64m, earning him a 35th-place finish. 

Jalen George, Queens
Junior | Throws | Baldwin, N.Y.

At the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze, George finished eighth in the weight throw, and first among Division II competitors, with a career-best mark of 15.05m (49’ 4 1/2”), which ranks fourth in the ECC. He added a season-best mark in the shot put (13.19m), which sits sixth in the ECC. 

Quinten John, Molloy
Sophomore | North Babylon, N.Y.

John ran to personal-best in both the 60m and 300m this past Friday at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze. John ran the 60m in 7.14, which ranks sixth in the ECC, and the 300m in 36.47. 

Women's
Jordyn Cruz, Queens
Freshman | Middle Distance | Holbrook, N.Y.

At the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze on Friday, Cruz turned in a top-10 finish in the 600m (1:41.40). 

Destiny Ellerbe, Felician
Fifth Year | Throws | Lancaster, Pa. 

Ellerbe earned two top-15 finishes in throws at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze. The Felician fifth year placed 12th out of a 48 in the shot put with a mark of 10.83m and 13th out of 49 in the weight throw with 12.43m. 

Kathleen Healy, Molloy
Senior | Malverne, N.Y. 

Healy dominated this past Friday at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze, besting a Molloy program record that was set just the week prior. The Molloy senior distance standout shattered the Lions’ 3000m record in 10:18.04, surpassing the previous mark by over eight seconds. Healy's performance earned her a sixth-place finish in a field of 32 competitors. That time ranks second in the ECC and NCAA East Region so far this indoor season. 

Aarysa Moore, Felician
Junior | Wappingers Falls, N.Y.

Moore placed seventh out of 16 participants in the high jump (1.58m) at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze; that mark ranks second in the ECC this indoor season. She also finished the 60m hurdles in 9.30. 

Carli Sheiffele, Molloy
Sophomore | Mount Sinai, N.Y. 

Sheiffele ran to a personal best in the mile this past Friday at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze. Sheiffele completed the mile in an ECC-leading time of 5:24.62, knocking nearly 20 seconds off her previous-best time. Sheiffele's performance earned her a 12th-place finish in a field containing 48 competitors. With her performance, Sheiffele topped all Division II competitors in the event. The time ranks fourth in the NCAA East Region.
