ECC Indoor Track and Field Report - Week 3

Men's Track Athlete of the Week

Darwin Almonte, St. Thomas Aquinas
Freshman | Haverstraw, N.Y. 

Almonte took second place in the 60 meter hurdles (8.24) and third in the 200 meter dash (21.93) in the 2026 Spartan Invitational. Both times were the fastest times recorded by an ECC athlete.


Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Devin Jones, Felician
Graduate Student | Jumps | Neptune, N.J.

Jones finished second in a field of 29 in the long jump (7.20m/23’ 7.5”) at the Spartan Invitational at Ocean Breeze on Friday. Jones is the only long jumper in the ECC this season to surpass 7.00m this indoor season, and he has done that four times at this point (Dec. 3, Dec. 5, Dec. 12, Jan. 9). 


Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Kathleen Healy, Molloy
Senior | Malverne, N.Y. 

Senior Kathleen Healy continued her tremendous season this past Friday at the Spartan Invitational, hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. In her previous outing, the Seahawk Shootout on December 12th, Healy set the program record in the 3000 meter and this past Friday she narrowly missed setting a new record. Healy completed the 3000-meter course in 10:18.28, narrowly missing out on breaking her own record by 0.24 seconds. Healy's effort earned her a second-place finish among a field of 24 competitors. Healy's success continued into the distance medley relay as Healy was a part of the group that shattered the previous program record. Healy and company surpassed the previous record by nearly an entire 30 seconds, completely rewriting the record. Healy and company completed the 4000-meter distance medley relay in 12:36.98, securing them a first-place finish among a field of 7 competitors. Healy has had a tremendous start to her senior campaign.


Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Zoe Shaw, District of Columbia
Senior | Kingston, Jamaica

Zoe Shaw delivered a standout performance at the Spartan Invitational, capturing two individual event victories for the Firebirds. Shaw won the high jump, clearing 1.60 meters to finish first out of six competitors, and followed that with a first-place finish in the triple jump, posting a mark of 11.06 meters to top a field of 19 athletes. She also ran on the 4x200m relay that placed 3rd out of a field of 10 teams with a time of 1:47.45


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men's
Cameren Anderson, Georgian Court
Junior | Throws | Somerset, N.J.

In his first meet at Georgian Court, Anderson had 2 top-five finishes at the USATF sanctioned SPIRE/Throws America Jumps/Throws Festival. Both of his marks were personal bests and immediately put him in the Lions all-time top-10. He led GCU with a 5th place finish in the shot put throwing 51-5.75. That's currently leading the ECC by almost 4 feet and is sixth all-time in GCU history. Anderson also took eighth place in the weight throw with another personal-best. He launched the weight 54-3.75 which is third all-time in Lions history and currently second in the ECC.

Mark Linton, Georgian Court
Junior | Throws | Orange Bay, Jamaica

Linton bettered his own Georgian Court school record in the weight throw at the SPIRE/Throws America Jumps/Throws Festival, put on by USATF. His mark of 57-7.5 is now leading the conference and is the new GCU school record. 

Amir Carter-Thomas, Molloy
Junior | Brooklyn, N.Y.

In his second collegiate appearance, Edmond bested a record that has been standing at Molloy for over six years. This past Friday at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze, Edmond dominated the Lions’ previous weight throw record, recording a throw of 12.96m. The record-breaking performance earned Edmond a ninth-place finish in a field containing 42 competitors. Edmond also competed in the shot put, recording a mark of 11.64m, earning him a 35th-place finish. 

Amair Buffaloe, Felician
Fifth-Year | Sprints | Prospect Park, N.J.

Amair Buffaloe earned two top-10 finishes at the Spartan Invitational (1/9/26). Buffaloe placed fourth (out of 94) in the 200m at 22.07 seconds, breaking a school record. Buffaloe also played eighth in the 60m (out of 93) with a time of 7.02 seconds. 

Women's
Sophia Hines, Molloy
Sophomore | Merrick, N.Y.

Sophomore Sophia Hines had an excellent outing this past Friday at the Spartan Invitational, hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. At the Spartan Invitational Hines was able to secure multiple top 10, and even top 5 finishes throughout various events. In the long jump, Hines recorded a jump of 4.70 meters, securing her a ninth-place finish among a field of 30 competitors. Hines performed even better in the triple jump, reaching a top jump of 11.02 meters, securing her a third-place finish among a field of 19. Hines success continued into the track events, as Hines was a member of the 4x400 group that earned a first-place finish with their time of 4:08.97. The last event Hines competed in was the 60-meter dash, which she once again performed excellently. Hines completed the 60-meter dash in 8.21, securing her an eighth-place finish among 46 competitors. 

Martina Mileti, Molloy
Freshman | Ronkonkoma, N.Y.

Freshman Martina Mileti had a tremendous outing this past Friday at the Spartan Invitational, hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Mileti competed in the 800-meter run, completing the course in 2:24.77. This was Mileti's first collegiate 800-meter, and she performed excellently. Mileti's time was good to secure her a sixth-place finish among a field of 35 competitors. Not only did Mileti secure a top 10 finish in her 800-meter debut, but she also helped the 4000-meter distance medley relay team set a program record. Mileti's contributions to the distance medley relay team helped the group complete the course in 12:36.98, securing a first-place finish among a field of 7 competitors. The groups time was good for first place, while also surpassing the previous record by nearly an entire 30 seconds. Mileti presented some tremendous performances while she was simultaneously making her collegiate debut in those events. 

Kayla Cooper, District of Columbia
Senior | Brooklyn, N.Y.

Kayla Cooper delivered a standout, multi-event performance for the Firebirds at the Spartan Invitational, highlighted by a first-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.25m which bested a field of 30. She also posted a top-five finish in the 200 meters, crossing the line in 26.10 seconds out of a field of 67.

Emmanuela Katou Kouami, District of Columbia
Senior | Bronx, N.Y. 
Emmanuela Katou Kouami delivered a standout performance for the Firebirds at the Spartan Invitational, capturing first place in the weight throw with a mark of 16.71 meters. Her throw topped a field of 30 competitors, marking one of the strongest individual performances of the meet. Her mark leads the conference and sits at second in the East Region.

Carly Koprowski, Queens
Junior | Wantagh, N.Y. 

Junior Carly Koprowski impressed at the Spartans Invitational on Friday, posting an East Region-leading time of 2:15.44 to earn a second-place finish in the 800-meter run.
