Men's Track Athlete of the Week

Jackson Doran, Roberts Wesleyan
Graduate Student | Lockport, N.Y. | Haverstraw, N.Y. 

Graduate student Jackson Doran is making the most of his extras year of eligibility as he started the second semester strong by winning the 3K race in a field of 33 runners with a time of 8:49.43 and also placed fifth in the 800m  (34 runners) with a time of 1:59.15.


Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Austin Melvin, Roberts Wesleyan
Sophomore | Pole Vault | Central Square, N.Y.

Sophomore Austin Melvin hit new heights for the Roberts Pole Vault squad over the weekend as he set a new school record for indoor pole vault and became the first Redhawk to clear the 17-foot bar. He won the pole vault competition (20 vaulters) at the Brockport Rust Buster meet by clearing the 5.18-meter (17’ 0”) bar. He passed to the 4.75 bar and cleared five consecutive bars on his first try including the 5.18 height. The jump broke his own school record set last year at the NCAA Championships at 5.14 meters (16’ 10 ¼”).


Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Kyndra Hines, District of Columbia
Sophomore | Saint Mary’s, Jamaica

Hines delivered an outstanding multi-event performance for the Firebirds at the VMI Invite, playing a key role in UDC’s third-place team finish out of 13 teams. Hines advanced through the preliminaries in the 60 meters before finishing second overall (out of 40 other competitors) in the finals with a time of 7.82 seconds, earning eight team points. She followed that effort with another runner-up finish in the 200 meters (out of 46 competitors), crossing the line in 25.88 seconds to add eight more points. This time is good for third best in the ECC. Hines totaled 16 individual points on the track and later was a part of the second-place 4×400-meter relay (out of seven teams), further contributing to UDC’s strong team showing. Her ability to score at a high level across multiple sprint events makes her a strong candidate for ECC Track Athlete of the Week honors.


Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Jadyn Mullen, Roberts Wesleyan
Junior | Multi | Batavia, N.Y.

Junior Jadyn Mullen started the second semester schedule with a bang Saturday at the Brockport Rust Buster meet. The multi athlete won four events and set a pair of school records. She won the 60-meter hurdles in 9.45 seconds and had a winning time in the 500-meter race with a time of 1:19.59. The time ranks second all-time on the Roberts top-five list. In the jumps, Mullen broke a school record that was set back in 2004 with a leap of 5.58 meters (18’ 3 ¾”) and later broke a record she shared with pole vault coach Jenn Suhr as she cleared the 1.74-meter (5’ 8 ½”) bar to win her fourth event of the day. She is currently ranked No. 1 in the East region in the high jump and is No. 3 in the East in the long jump.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men's
Dominik Hric, Staten Island
Junior | Throws | Staten Island, N.Y.  

At the Gotham Invite, Hric broke his own record for the third consecutive meet in the weight throw posting a distance of 13.11m.

Mark Linton, Georgian Court
Junior | Throws | Orange Bay, Jamaica

Linton finished 2nd at the NYC Gotham Cup throwing 58-7 and once again bettering his own school record. He remains a top the ECC leaders in the event.

Ernest Robertson, Holy Family
Senior | Jumps | Miami, Fla.

Robertson posted HFU’s first NCAA provisional of the season as the Tigers opened their season at the Alvernia Winter Invitational on Saturday, landing at a collegiate PR of 14.59m in the triple jump to move into first in the ECC and 26th in Division II. The mark was good for third in the field of 23.

Djurabe Edmond, Molloy
Freshman | Westbury, N.Y.  

Freshman Djurabe Edmond reclaimed the Molloy program record in the weight throw this past Saturday at the Wagner Invitational (Jan. 17). At the Wagner Invitational, Edmond recorded a throw of 14.18 meters, setting the program record while being the first athlete in program history to record a throw of over 14 meters. The throw placed Edmond 11th in an event featuring 27 competitors. Edmond also competed in the shot put, recording a put of 11.80 meters. Edmond placed 16th among 32 competitors in the shot put.

KJ Ede, Staten Island
Freshman | Sprints | Rosedair, N.Y.

Ede has had a successful week at the NYC Gotham cup on Jan. 16. In the 400m dash, he posted a time of 49.63 finishing second overall in the race. With this time, he current records the fastest marker in the ECC.

CJ Johnson, Daemen
Junior | Distance | Jackson, N.J.

Johnson led the Wildcats at the Brockport Invitational, finishing second in the mile and third in the 3,000m run. The junior earned a silver medal in the mile, crossing the finish line in 4:24.29, which broke his personal best time and the program record he had previously held.  He continued his strong day with a bronze medal in the 3,000m run, logging a time of 8:54.97. Johnson broke the program record and shaved 19 seconds off his previous PR.

Ryan Pettrow, Georgian Court
Junior | Distance | Jackson, N.J.
 
Ryan Pettrow ran a personal-best time in the 3K, 9:02.01. That's fourth in the league this season.

Desi Stroud, Holy Family
Senior | Jumps/Sprints | Mays Landing, N.J.
 
Stroud won the long jump at the Alvernia Winter Invitational on Saturday, topping the field of 32 with a mark of 7.06m that now ranks second in the ECC.

Peter Bagattine, Molloy
Junior | Bay Shore, N.Y.

Junior Peter Bagattine competed at the Wagner Invitational (Jan. 17) this past Saturday where he was able to establish a new personal-best. Bagattine set his personal-best in the 5000 meter with a time of 15:32.98. This time earned Bagattine a third-place finish, while topping Division II competitors. The event included nine competitors. Bagattine bested his previous time by nearly seven seconds.

Justus Behne, St. Thomas Aquinas College
Freshman | Sprints/Hurdles | Bottrop, Germany

Behne placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.05 and finished third in the 60 meter hurdles, clocking in at 8.46 during the Ramapo College Indoor Opener last weekend.

Women's
Destiny Ellerbe, Felician
Fifth-Year | Throws | Lancaster, Pa.

At the Wagner Invitational on Saturday, January 17, Ellerbe placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 10.75m out of 15 throwers. Ellerbe also earned a ninth place finish in the weight throw at 12.84m, out of 17 competitors.

Chiamaka Wokocha, Georgian Court
Junior | Throws | Galloway, N.J.  

Wokocha set a new personal-best in the weight throw with her toss of 48-3. That was 6th in the competition at the NYC Gotham Cup and sets her 3rd in the ECC.

Kathleen Healy, Molloy
Senior | Malverne, N.Y.   

Senior Kathleen Healy kept her success rolling this past Saturday at the Wagner Invitational (Jan. 17). For the third meet in a row, Healy set a program record. At the Wagner Invitational, Healy set the record for the 5000 meter, recording a time of 18:07.92. The mark, which was first among Division II competitors, bested the previous record (which also belonged to Healy) by over 20 seconds. Healy finished fourth among the five competitors in the contest.

Victoria Maher, St. Thomas Aquinas College
Sophomore | Throws | Marlboro, N.Y.

Maher took a third place finish in the weight throw event, with a toss of 15.91m (52'2.5") at the Wagner College Invitational this past weekend.

Lilliana Peters, D’Youville
Junior | Olean, N.Y.
Peters put on a great performance at the Brockport Invite as she took first place in the women’s 3000m (18:57:50). This is her best performance of the indoor season and a great mark for DYU.

Neveah Granderson-Florence, D’Youville
Freshman

Neveah put up a huge performance at the Brockport Invite, winning the 60 m dash with a time of 7.98 seconds. A huge accomplishment for the freshman and the Saints.

Aarysa Moore, Felician
Junior | Hurdles | Wappingers Falls, N.Y.

At the Wagner Invitational on January 17, Aarysa Moore earned a 6th place finish in the 60m hurdles (out of 8). She ran a 9.17. Moore also claimed second place in the high jump at a 1.63m mark. She competed out of 11 other competitors.

Sophia Mauro, Georgian Court
Freshman | Hurdles/Sprints | Philadelphia, Pa.

In her first collegiate track meet, Mauro ran a 2:22.58 for 800m which moved her to 5th all-time at GCU and is 4th in the ECC.

Becca Schultz, Daemen
Senior | Hurdles/Sprints | Grand Island, N.Y.

The Wildcats had a bronze medal result from Schultz in the 60m hurdles. After finishing third in her heat with a time of 9.27 seconds (tying her personal best), Schultz also finished third in the final, posting a time of 9.97 seconds.

Daizhae’ Brown, Georgian Court
Freshman | Sprints | Mays Landing, N.J.

Brown took second overall at the NYC Gotham Cup in the 60m dash. She was the leader after the preliminary round, then bettered her time to 7.76, but finished second in the finals. Her time is second in the ECC this season and was the fastest in the conference this week.

Katelyn Perazzola, Holy Family
Sophomore | Sprints | Warner Robbins, Ga.

Perazzola was a part of the 4x200m relay team that captured gold at the Alvernia Winter Invitational on Saturday, as HFU beat out six other quartets with a combined time of 1:49.88. Individually, she placed fourth out of 58 competitors in the 200m, with a time of 27.23, and qualified for the 60m final with the sixth fastest prelim time, 8.23, among 49 entries. In the final, she would finish fifth with a time of 8.19.

Ocelia Jones, Holy Family
Junior | Sprints/Hurdles | St. Elizabeth, Jamaica

Jones was a part of the 4x200m relay team that captured gold at the Alvernia Winter Invitational on Saturday, as HFU beat out six other quartets with a combined time of 1:49.88. individually, she finished fifth in both the 60m hurdle prelims and final, out of 34 entries, with her best time coming in at 9.46, good for sixth in the ECC.

Marie Naudus, Molloy
Graduate Student | Island Park, N.Y.

Graduate student Marie Naudus excelled in her outing this past Saturday at the Wagner Invitational (Jan. 17). Naudus competed in the 3000 meter where she not only set a personal-best but she also set the program record. Naudus completed the 3000 meter run in a time of 10:11.06, knocking nearly 7 seconds off the previous record. Naudus topped all Division II competitors in the contest while finishing third among 13 competitors.

Carly Koprowski, Queens
Junior | Sprints | Wantaugh, N.Y.

Competing at the New York City Gotham Cup on Friday afternoon, junior Carly Koprowski placed fourth in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:17.10, finishing first among collegiate competitors and recording the fastest mark among her East Coast Conference counterparts.

Solki Martin-Lacayo, Roberts Wesleyan
Freshman | Mid-Distance | Clymer, N.Y.

Freshman Solki Martin-Lacayo recorded the top time in the 800-meter race at the semester's first event at the Brockport Rust Buster meet. She closed with a strong kick as she outraced a pack of seven runners to win with a time of 2:24.80. She was first in a field of 26 runners. Her time currently ranks fifth in the ECC.

Samantha Morrison, District of Columbia
Senior | St. Catherine, Jamaica

Samantha Morrison delivered a strong, point-scoring performance for the Firebirds at the VMI Invite, contributing both individually and as part of the relay squad during UDC’s third-place team finish. Morrison placed third in the 800 meters (out of a field of 21) with a time of 2:18.21, earning six points and recording the second best time in the ECC to date.. She also ran a key leg on the 4×400-meter relay, helping the Firebirds finish second overall in 4:09.50 and add eight more points to the team total.
