Men's Track Athlete of the Week

David Crews, Molloy
Junior | Sprints | Jamaica, N.Y.

Junior David Crews outshined expectations at the Big Apple Invitational (Feb. 7), securing not just one but two personal-best. Crews competed in both the 60-meter (6.99), as well as the 200-meter (22.93), finishing in sixth place and 12th-place, respectively. Crews 60-meter time was just 0.03 seconds off from establishing a new program-record. 


Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Austin Melvin, Roberts Wesleyan
Sophomore | Pole Vault | Central Square, N.Y.

Sophomore Austin Melvin set another school record over the weekend and vaulted to the No. 2 spot in the country as he won the competition at the Blue and Orange Invitational in Utica by clearing the 5.36-meter (17' 7") bar. He jumped into the competition at 15' 8 ¼" and cleared four consecutive bars with six attempts to earn first place and then raised the bar to the new record height and cleared the bar on his third attempt. The mark places him second in the country and first by more than a foot in the East Region standings.


Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Kathleen Healy, Molloy
Senior | Distance | Malverne, N.Y.

Senior Kathleen Healy was once again able to establish a new program record, this time in the 3000-meter. Healy dominated the 3000-meter course, completing the course in 10:09.12 and taking home a third-place finish. Healy was able to erase nearly two entire seconds off the previous program record set earlier this season. Healy has been rewriting the program record books throughout her tremendous senior campaign. 


Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Kennedy Benjamins, Roberts Wesleyan
Sophomore | Jumps |. Las Vegas, Nev.

Sophomore Kennedy Benjamins reached new heights over the weekend as she set a new personal best mark of 3.91 meters (12' 10") as she placed second at the Blue and Orange Invitational meet in Utica. She entered the competition with the bar set at 3.61 meters (11' 10") and cleared the bar on her second attempt. She then cleared the next two bars on her first attempt for the new career best effort. The height moved her to No. 13 in the country and No. 2 in the East Region.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men's
Mark Linton, Georgian Court
Junior | Throws | Orange Bay, Jamaica

Mark again won the weight throw at the Fastrack National Invitational. He threw 18.05m (59-2.75) and bested a host of Division I, II and III competition. He had one of his most consistent series' of the year, reaching 18m twice and 17m four times, while getting off five legal marks. 

Barone Vankline, Georgian Court
Freshman | Sprints | Florence, N.J.

Barone was in the invitational section of the 60m dash at the Fastrack National Invite. He finished in 20th place, matching his personal-best at 7.05. He then came back and finished 24th in the 200m dash. He set a new PR running 22.36 which is sixth in the ECC this season. 

Ernest Robertson, Holy Family 
Senior | Triple Jump | Miami, Fla. 

Robertson landed at an NCAA provisional of 14.62m, a new collegiate PR, to win bronze in a field of 35 in the triple jump at the Fastrack National Invite on Friday. The mark is the second furthest in the ECC this season. 

Philip Zyskowski, Holy Family
Freshman | Sprints | Ridgewood, N.Y.

Zyskowski moved into fourth in the ECC in the 400m with a collegiate PR of 50.57 at the Fastrack National Invite on Friday. The time was good for 21st in a deep field of 132. 

Amir Carter-Thomas, Molloy
Junior | Throws | Brooklyn, N.Y. 

Junior Amir Carter-Thomas had an outstanding performance this past Saturday at the Big Apple Invitational (Feb. 7). At the Big Apple Invitational, Carter-Thomas competed in the shot put and weight throw, claiming the program record for the weight throw. Carter-Thomas put forth a top throw of 15.17 meters, surpassing the previous program record by nearly an entire meter. Carter-Thomas's throw was good for a first-place finish, topping all competitors. Carter-Thomas also recorded a put of 10.40 meters, taking home 15th-place in the shot put. 

Noah Leathersich, Roberts Wesleyan
Freshman | Pole Vault | Rochester, N.Y. 

Freshman Noah Leathersich improved his personal PR and moved into second place on the current ECC standings after placing second and clearing the 4.93-meter (16' 2") bar at the Blue and Orange Invitational in Utica over the weekend. His mark is also second overall in the East region standings and ranks 29th in the country.

Justus Behne, St. Thomas Aquinas
Freshman | Sprints/Hurdles | Bottrop, Germany

Chalfin placed 15th in the high jump event with a leap of 1.80m (5'10.75") at the Rutgers University Scarlet Knight Open last weekend. The STAC freshman also helped his 4x400 meter relay team to a fourth place finish in a time of 3:28.07.

Women's
Destiny Ellerbe, Felician
Fifth-Year | Throws | Lancaster, Pa.

Ellerbe placed 4th (out of 23) in the shot put with a 11.34 meter-mark. She also threw a 12.47m weight throw to place 9th of 17.

Chantoya Thomas, Felician
Graduate | Sprints | Spanish Town, Jamaica

Chantoya Thomas earned a second place finish (out of 40) in the 400m, running a 58.48. Thomas also placed 3rd (out of 69) in the 200m with a time of 25.82.

Sigerlaug Sveinshottir, Georgian Court
Freshman | Sprints | Akureyri, Iceland

Sigerlaug ran twice last week at the Fastrack National Invite. She finished in 12th place in the open 60m dash running 8.21, just short of a personal-best. She later hit a new PR in the 200m running 26.67 to finish 31st.

Chiamaka Wokocha, Georgian Court
Junior | Throws | Galloway, N.J.

Wokocha set a new personal-best in the weight throw, hitting 50 feet (15.24m) for the first time in her career. Her mark took 6th in the competition at the Fastrack National Invitational and was 1st among Division II competitors. 

Jada Peterson, Holy Family
Sophomore | Sprints | Levittown, Pa. 

Peterson set two new indoor collegiate PRs at the Fastrack National Invite on Saturday, highlighted by placing in the-top half of a field of 100 in the 400m with a time of 1:02.25. She was also part of the 4x400m relay team that placed sixth out of 16 foursomes after combining to finish in 4:09.05, now fourth in the ECC this season. 

Ava Shepherd, Molloy
Sophomore | Jumps | West Hempstead, N.Y.

Sophomore Ava Shepherd was able to secure top seven finishes in both the high jump, as well as the triple jump. In the high jump, Shepherd recorded a jump of 1.50 meters, finishing in seventh-place. In the triple jump, Shepherd recorded a jump of 9.86 meters, finishing in seventh-place. Shepherd had herself a tremendous day on the field. 

Aaliyah McCoy, Roberts Wesleyan
Sophomore | Sprints | Newfield, N.Y.

Sophomore Aaliyah McCoy sprinted to a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash at the Blue and Orange Invitational at Utica University over the weekend as she tied her career-best time with a finals mark of 7.95 seconds. She qualified for the finals after posting an 8.03 time in the preliminaries as she ranked third out of 61 sprinters.

Madison Chalfin, St. Thomas Aquinas
Graduate | Distance | West Nyack, N.Y.

Chalfin placed 12th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:22.77 at the Rutgers University Scarlet Knight Open last weekend. The STAC grad student also helped her 4x400 meter relay team to a ninth place finish in a time of 4:32.21.

Victoria Maher, St. Thomas Aquinas
Sophomore | Throws | Marlboro, N.Y.

Maher earned a fifth place finish in the weight throw event with a toss of 16.70m (54'9.5") at the Rutgers University Scarlet Knight Open last weekend.
