STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan Men’s Indoor Track and Field team won its third East Coast Conference (ECC) Track and Field Championship on Sunday, finishing with 148 points, after the one-day championship at Ocean Breeze.
Roberts Wesleyan had a pair of double winners, as Jackson Doran won both the 800 meter run with a meet record of 1:54.70 and the mile run at 4:20.92. Trevor Heitkamp won the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:12.58 and the 5000 meter run at 15:31.35.
St. Thomas Aquinas’ Darwi Almonte Pena had wins in the 200 meter dash at 21.85 and the 60 meter hurdles with a meet record time of 8.10. Georgian Court’s Barone Vankline won the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.936, while Staten Island’s Steven Elcock won the 400 meter dash at 48.93.
In the relays, the team of Elcock, Nick Runfola, Ibrahima Diallo and Karran Riley won the 4x4 relay for Staten Island with a time of 3:23.29, while the team of Boston Dues, Micah Cornfield, Roman Smith and Juvenal Diaz-Cores from Roberts Wesleyan captured the Distance Relay with a mark of 10:52.61.
In the field events, Roberts Wesleyan’s Austin Melvin won the pole vault with a meet record of 5.01 meters (16-5.25), while teammate Calvin Lill won the high jump at 1.93 meters (6-4).
Holy Family had two winners in the jumps, as Javon Bowen won the long jump at 7.28 meters (23-10.50) and Ernest Robertson won the triple jump at 14.15 meters (46-5). In the throws,
Georgian Court took home both first places as Cameren Anderson won the shot put at 15.23 meters (49-11.50) and Mark Linton won the weight throw at 17.63 meters (57-10).
