ECC Men's Tennis Report - Week 11

Player of the Week

Tim Andersson, Queens
Sophomore | Linkoping, Sweden

In an undefeated 5-0 week for the nationally-ranked Knights, Andersson went 6-1 with a 3-0 singles record and a 3-1 record in doubles play. The QC sophomore earned singles victories at No. 2 and No. 3 courts in the three-match road trip over Bentley, Franklin Pierce, and Southern New Hampshire. In doubles play, Andersson earned a trio of victories at No. 1 and No. 2 courts with four different partners against Bentley, Franklin Pierce, Daemen, and regionally-ranked Saint Michael’s.


Co-Rookies of the Week

Adam Laur, Queens
Freshman | Boulogne Billancourt, France

In a doubleheader sweep over conference-foe Daemen and regionally-ranked Saint Michael’s, Laur went 4-0 on the day earning victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles and No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Laur began the day with a doubles victory at No. 1 before he completed a singles victory at No. 2 over Daemen. In his second match of the day against Saint Michael’s, the QC rookie earned a doubles victory at No. 2 before earning a singles victory at No. 3 to complete his 4-0 day.

Erik Victor Tauson, St. Thomas Aquinas
Freshman | Malmo, Sweden

Tauson went 4-0 with an undefeated week at No. 3 doubles and No. 3 singles in a 2-0 week for the Spartans. In the 5-2 win over regionally-ranked Adelphi, Tauson teamed up with Ondrej Sramek to defeat their opponents, 6-1, before going on to defeat Hugo Munoz Reinoso 6-1, 6-4. In the 5-2 win over conference-foe UDC, the STAC freshman and Sramek downed their opponents, 6-1, before going on to defeat Elouan Queguiner, 6-4, 6-4.


Honor Roll

Loup Alleno, Queens
Sophomore | Paris, France

In an undefeated 5-0 for the nationally-ranked Knights, Alleno went 3-0 in singles play as he earned victories at courts No. 1 and No. 2. Alleno earned a doubleheader sweep on Wednesday over Franklin Pierce and SNHU at the No. 2 court before he concluded ECC play with a victory at the No. 1 court over Daemen.

Lucas Foix Sotos, Queens
Junior | Javea, Spain

In an undefeated 5-0 for the nationally-ranked Knights, Foix Sotos completed a 3-0 week at the No. 1 court. Playing in four matches, Foix Sotos earned victories over Bentley, Southern New Hampshire, and Saint Michael’s to complete the regular season, while the match against Franklin Pierce went unfinished. 

Ondrej Sramek, St. Thomas Aquinas
Junior | Trebechovice pod Orebem, Czech Republic

Sramek went 4-0 with an undefeated week at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 and No. 4 singles in a 2-0 week for the Spartans. In the 5-2 win over Adelphi, Sramek teamed up with Erik Victor Tauson to defeat their opponents, 6-1, before going on to defeat Spyridon Papageorgiou 6-4, 6-7 (5), 1-0 (6). In the 5-2 win over UDC, the STAC junior and Tauson downed their opponents, 6-1, before going on to defeat Oskar Karos 6-3, 7-6 (1).

Don Vinz Lominoque, St. Thomas Aquinas
Junior | Cebu City, Philippines

Lominoque went 3-1 with a 1-1 record at No. 2 doubles and a 2-0 mark at No. 4 and No. 2 singles in a 2-0 week for the Spartans. In the 5-2 win over Adelphi, Lominoque went on to defeat Andrea Albiero 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. In the 5-2 win over UDC, the STAC junior and teammate Nagamitsu Kuroda downed their opponents, 6-2, before going on to defeat Louka Queguiner 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (5).
