East Coast Conference Men's Tennis Title Claimed by Queens College

Knights come from behind to defeat Saint Thomas Aquinas, 4-1

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College Knights rallied from behind to defeat the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans, 4–1, in the East Coast Conference Championship match on Saturday night.

St. Thomas Aquinas secured the doubles point, clinching it in a tiebreaker at first doubles. All-ECC selections Henry Ronnberg and Theo Renoux defeated ECC Player of the Year Lucas Foix Sotos and All-Conference pick Alexis Martin Gibaird, 7–6 (7–4). The Spartans also claimed second doubles, as Vinz Lominoque and Nagamitsu Kuroda earned a win over Said Akbarov and Adam Laur. Queens picked up its lone doubles victory at third doubles, where All-ECC selection Tim Andersson and Sam Linck defeated Ondrej Sramek and Nathan Yacar, 6–2.
 
Queens responded strongly in singles play, winning the first four completed matches to secure the title. Foix Sotos opened the comeback with a 6–3, 6–4 victory over All-Conference selection Lorenzo Meschini at first singles. Linck then gave the Knights the lead with a 6–4, 6–0 win over Sramek at fifth singles. Laur extended the advantage, defeating Renoux, 6–3, 6–4.
 
The championship was clinched at third singles, where Andersson defeated Lominoque, 7–5, 6–4.
 
The remaining two matches were halted once the outcome was decided.
