Player of the Week

Lorenzo Meschini, St. Thomas Aquinas
Sophomore | Rome, Italy
Meschini went 2-0 to help lead St. Thomas Aquinas to a pair of 7-0 wins over Daemen in its ECC opener this past weekend. The STAC sophomore picked up a pair of singles victories, first defeating Alex Lumanog via retirement, 6-0, 1-0 (Ret.) at No. 2 on Saturday. He then went on to beat Juan Alvarez, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 on Sunday.

Rookie of the Week

Nagamitsu Kuroda, St. Thomas Aquinas
Freshman | Tokyo, Japan
Kuroda went 3-0 to help lead St. Thomas Aquinas to a pair of 7-0 wins over Daemen in their ECC opener this past weekend. The STAC freshman, with partner Don Vinz Lominoque, defeated Rohan Chitanand and Lucas Garcia at No. 2 doubles, 6-2, on Saturday and then took down Juan Alvarez and Alex Lumanog at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, on Sunday. The Tokyo, Japan native also defeated Lucas Garcia at No. 3 singles on Saturday, 6-3, 6-3.

Honor Roll

Oskar Karos, District of Columbia
Senior | Warsaw, Poland
Karos went 3-3 on the week (3-1 in Division II play). In the Firebirds’ win over Queens, the UDC senior teamed up with Filippo Vatteroni to defeat their opponents, 7-5, at No. 3 singles. He then went on to defeat Caleb Brightman 7-6(2), 6-3 at No. 5 singles. In the mach against Adelphi, Karos defeated Reece Farrow, 2-6, 6-4, 10-8, at No. 5 singles.

Adam Laur, Queens
Freshman | Boulogne Billancourt, France
Laur went 3-0 in two key regional matches. The QC freshman began the week earning a doubles victory at No. 1 court with partner Alexis Martin-Gibiard as the duo defeated Jefferson’s Filip Slavkovic and Mario Antonio to clinch QC’s doubles point. The rookie would complete his undefeated afternoon earning a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles over Slavkovic as the Knights earned a 6-1 victory. In ECC play, Laur picked up a singles victory at No. 4 court over UDC’s Sebastiano Palma to the score of 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 Friday afternoon.

Ghali Ouajahat Filali, District of Columbia
Sophomore | Casablanca, Morocco
Ouajahat Filali went 3-1 over three games on the week. The UDC sophomore went undefeated in singles play, defeating Division I opponent Aaron Thompson of Mount Saint Mary’s 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. He then went on to defeat Caleb Brightman 7-6(2), 6-3, at No. 6 singles to clinch the match for the Firebirds in their 5-2 win against Queens. He ended the week defeating Rodrigo Ochoa from Adelphi University to the score of  6-4, 7-5 at No. 6 singles.
