Player of the Week
Amani Abuhatab, Mercy
Junior | Guard | West Haven, Conn.
Abuhatab averaged a team-high 21.5 points per game on 50.0 percent shooting from the floor and 60.0 percent (9-of-15) shooting from downtown as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The junior also averaged 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and 2.5 rebounds per game. The guard opened the week with a team-high 23 points to go with two steals, two rebounds, two assists and one block in the win at Queens on Wednesday. Abuhatab ended the week with a game-high 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting to go with three rebounds, two steals, and four assists in the win over Molloy on Sunday.
Defensive Player of the Week
Nkiru Awaka, Queens
Junior | Forward | Hyde Park, N.Y.
Across two games, junior forward Nkiru Awaka averaged a double-double, recording 17.0 points on 57.1 percent shooting, 16.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 assists per game. Awaka began the week with 22 points, 15 rebounds, and one block. On Sunday against STAC, she secured her career-best and ECC-leading 17th double-double of the season with 12 points, 17 rebounds, three blocks, three steals, and two assists. The 17-rebound performance marked the sixth time this season Awaka has collected 15 or more rebounds.
Rookie of the Week
Jona Kabashi, St. Thomas Aquinas
Freshman | Guard/Forward | Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.
Kabashi averaged 19.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steal per game in two contests last week for STAC. The freshman guard/forward tallied 14 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out an assist and swiped a steal in 22 minutes in an 66-53 road loss against Molloy before recording 25 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a steal in 27 minutes in an 81-62 home victory against Queens. Jona shot 48.3 percent (14-29) from the field and 91.7 percent (11-12) from beyond the arc.
ECC Weekly Honor Roll
Allie Hall, D'Youville
Sophomore | Forward | Rochester, N.Y.
Hall recorded her first double-double of the season against Daemen on Sunday. The Sophomore recorded ten points and ten rebounds while also shooting 60% from the field and recording three key blocks on defense.
Ne'vaeh Buntley, Daemen
Sopohmore | Forward | Rochester, N.Y.
Buntley scored 12 points and tied her season-high with a team-leading nine rebounds in Daemen's win over D'Youville. She also recorded an assist and a steal.
Claire Pikett, Daemen
Senior | Forward | Holland, N.Y.
Pikett led all scorers with 22 points on 8-of-17 (47.1%) shooting in Daemen's 66-56 win over rival D'Youville on Sunday. She also tallied a season-high six assists along with four rebounds, two steals, and a block. Pikett surpassed 200 career steals in the game, becoming the ninth player in program history to accomplish the feat.
Aliyah Eason, District of Columbia
Freshman | Guard | Fort Washington, Md.
Eason had another strong performance off the bench leading the Firebirds with 18 points, going 7-14 from the field and 3-6 from beyond the arc , in a 70-65 conference victory over Roberts Wesleyan. She also added 4 rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Le'Asia Todd, District of Columbia
Freshman | Forward | Cambridge, Md.
In the Firebirds key conference victory over Roberts Wesleyan, Todd posted another double with a game high 12 rebounds, 11 points (5-8 from the field) and a game-high 3 blocks.
Grace Lesko, Mercy
Junior | Forward | Northampton, Pa.
Lesko averaged 18.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The junior opened the week with a team-high-tying 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting to go with 10 rebounds, five assists and one steal in the win at Queens on Wednesday. Lesko ended the week with 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and one steal in the win over Molloy on Sunday.
Rosa Rizzitelli, Molloy
Senior | Guard | Derby, Conn.
Rizzitelli was all over the court this week for Molloy, averaging 9.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game. The senior pulled down eight defensive rebounds and contributed nine assists in the Lions' win over St. Thomas Aquinas before netting 14 points to go with nine rebounds, seven assists, and two steals at Mercy to end the week.
Sharmeela Ugbogbo, Molloy
Freshman | Center | Bronx, N.Y.
Ugbogbo was a weapon under the glass in a 1-1 week for the Lions. The freshman started the week with a double-double in a win over St. Thomas Aquinas, pulling down 12 rebounds to go with 11 points while adding blocks, two assists, and a steal. The freshman added another 14 rebounds at Mercy to go with seven points, a block, and a steal. On the week, Ugbogbo averaged 13.0 rebounds and 9.0 points per game, just missing averaging a double-double.
Jada Mushat, Roberts Wesleyan
Freshman | Guard | Williamsville, N.Y.
Freshman guard Jada Mushat continued to lead the Roberts offense with a pair of solid games this week. She scored 18 points against UDC in the midweek game and then added a 25-point performance against Staten Island on the road Sunday. She is the top freshman scorer in the ECC with 14.1 points per game.
Bailey Chapman, St. Thomas Aquinas
Redshirt Sophomore | Guard | Sparta, N.J.
Chapman averaged 15.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game in two contests last week for STAC. The redshirt sophomore guard tallied nine points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out an assist and swiped seven steals in 35 minutes in an 66-53 road loss against Molloy before recording 21 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in 35 minutes in an 81-62 home victory against Queens. Bailey shot 52.4 percent (11-21) from the field and 61.5 percent (8-13) from beyond the arc.
Shonyae Edmonds, Staten Island
Junior | Guard | Albany, N.Y.
The junior recorded her third consecutive double-double against Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday when she posted 18 points and 12 rebounds. On top of her double-double performance, she tallied 2 steals and 2 blocks to defend the paint and shot .500 (6-12) from the field.
Kyra Rose, Staten Island
