ECC Women's Volleyball Report - Week Three

Player of the Week

Kylynn White, Queens
Freshman | Setter | Chicago, IL

In a 3-1 week for the Knights, rookie setter Kylynn White led the team with 43 kills, 57 assists, 31 digs, 15 service aces, and seven points, including her second career triple-double. She opened the week with nine kills, 18 assists, eight digs, and tied a career-best six service aces in the 3-1 win over Caldwell. In a five-set victory against Georgian Court, White notched a triple-double with 18 kills on a .341 hitting percentage, 12 assists, 12 digs, and again tied her career-best six service aces for the third straight match. To close the ESU Tournament on Saturday, she added 16 kills, 27 assists, three aces, 11 digs, and three blocks against East Stroudsburg and Southern New Hampshire.


Defensive Player of the Week

Maya Angelova, Queens
Senior | Middle Blocker | Kyustendil, Bulgaria
In a 3-1 week for the Knights, senior middle blocker Maya Angelova recorded 24 kills on a .327 hitting percentage, along with 16 blocks. She contributed nine kills and two blocks in Tuesday’s 3-1 victory over Caldwell. In a hard-fought 3-2 win against Georgian Court to open the ESU Tournament, Angelova added six kills on a .364 hitting percentage and led the team with six blocks. On Saturday, she helped secure a 3-1 comeback victory over Southern New Hampshire with seven kills on .333 hitting and five blocks.


Setter of the Week

Alina Bertens Deckart, D’Youville
Junior | Setter | Santiago de Chile, Chile

Alina was incredible in guiding D’Youville to a 2–1 record over the weekend, recording team-high assist totals in every match. She finished with 35, 36, and 40 assists across three contests, consistently setting up the offense and creating scoring opportunities for her teammates.


Rookie of the Week

Keira Mullen, Daemen
Freshman | Outside Hitter | Farmingdale, NJ

Mullen totaled 63 kills (3.9 kills/set) while hitting at a .280 clip in Daemen's 2-2 weekend at the Wildcat Regional Invitational. The freshman added 22 digs, 7 blocks, and 6 aces over four matches. She posted her first career double-double in Daemen's 1-3 loss to Holy Family in the first match of the weekend with 14 kills and 10 digs and finished the day with a career-high 19 kills in the Wildcats' 3-0 win over Franklin Pierce. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Gabriela Bieniek, Mercy
Senior | Outside Hitter | Rzeszow, Poland

Bieniek had a team-high 33 kills and 4.71 kills per set on .279 hitting with 10 digs, two blocks, and three aces as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The senior opened the week with 11 kills, six digs, one block, and two aces in the Mavericks' 3-0 win over Southern Connecticut State on Tuesday. The outside hitter ended the week with a match-high and career-high 22 kills on .421 hitting with four digs, one block, and one ace in the 3-1 win at Felician on Friday. 

Madeline O'Brien, D’Youville?
Junior | Outside Hitter | East Amherst, N.Y
O’Brien looked confident  at the Saints’ tournament this past weekend, leading both her team and the entire tournament field in kills. Over three matches, she totaled 44 kills (14.7 per match) while helping D’Youville to a 2–1 record. O’Brien delivered a standout performance against Slippery Rock with 18 kills, 16 digs, 2 blocks, and 3 assists, showcasing her all-around ability to impact the game offensively and defensively. She followed that up with a double-double against Assumption, recording 10 kills and 10 digs, before closing the weekend with 16 kills and 8 digs in the win over Frostburg State.

Adriana Rivera Rodriguez, Mercy
Junior | Setter | Humacao, Puerto Rico

Rivera Rodriguez had a team-high 60 assists, 8.57 assists per set, 24 digs, and 3.43 digs per set to go with four kills, four aces, and three blocks as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The junior opened the week with a double-double by way of 30 assists and 11 digs to go with two kills, three aces, and one block in the 3-0 win over Southern Connecticut State on Tuesday. The setter ended the week with another double-double by way of a match-high 30 assists with a team-high 13 digs to go with two kills, one ace, and two blocks in the 3-1 win at Felician on Friday.

Julia Zalta, Molloy
Graduate Student | Setter | Great Neck, NY

Zalta put up a line of 70 assists, 36 digs, 19 kills, nine aces, and eight blocks. The graduate student had two double-doubles on the week with 21 assists and 13 digs at Pace before adding 14 assists and 10 digs at American International. She closed the week by matching a career-high seven service aces in a win over the University of Bridgeport.
