Mercy's Shimborske and Hansen Selected to Play in IWLCA Senior All-Star Game

DOBBS FERRY, NY – Mercy University women's lacrosse seniors Lindsey Shimborske (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) and Leah Hansen (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) have been selected to participate in the 2025 IWLCA Division II Senior All-Star Game on Saturday, May 31st at 10:00 a.m. on Tierney Field at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland. Shimborske and Hansen will play for the White All-Stars and admission for the game is free of charge.

Shimborske was named IWLCA First Team All-American, USA Lacrosse Magazine First Team All-American and IWLCA First Team All-Region earlier this month. The ECC Defender of the Year and First Team All-ECC honoree started all 17 games with a team-high 62 ground balls, 120 draw controls and 39 caused turnovers. The four-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week and one-time IWLCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week ranked second in the ECC in ground balls, was first in draw controls and third in caused turnovers. Shimborske ranks No. 9 nationally in draw controls per game (7.06) and No. 15 nationally in ground balls per game (3.65). The ECC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year recorded her 300th career draw control and 200th career ground ball during the season. The senior set a school record for career caused turnovers. Shimborske ends her impressive four-year career with 219 ground balls, 392 draw controls, 175 caused turnovers, seven goals and seven assists in 72 games. Shimborske ranks second in program history in ground balls and draw controls.

Hansen was tabbed IWLCA Second Team All-Region and First Team All-ECC earlier this month. The senior appeared in and started in all 17 games with 53 goals, 20 assists, 73 points and 15 ground balls. She led the team in goals, assists and points. Hansen was fourth in the ECC in goals, third in points and seventh in assists. The one-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week recorded her 200th career point during the season and had a season-high seven goals and nine points at UDC on April 19th. Hansen ends her career with 173 goals, 49 assists, 222 points, 47 ground balls and 29 caused turnovers in 74 career games. The senior is third in program history in goals and points and ninth in assists.
