Mercy Women's Lacrosse's Shimborske Named IWLCA First Team All-American

DOBBS FERRY, NY – Mercy University women's lacrosse senior Lindsey Shimborske (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) has been named Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II First Team All-American for the second straight year. Shimborske is the lone All-American from the ECC.

Shimborske receives All-American recognition from the IWLCA for the third straight year after being a Second Team honoree in 2023. The senior was named USA Lacrosse Magazine First Team All-American last week and was named IWLCA First Team All-Region earlier this month. The ECC Defender of the Year and First Team All-ECC honoree started all 17 games with a team-high 62 ground balls, 120 draw controls and 39 caused turnovers. The four-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week and one-time IWLCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week ranked second in the ECC in ground balls, was first in draw controls and third in caused turnovers. Shimborske ranks No. 9 nationally in draw controls per game (7.06) and No. 15 nationally in ground balls per game (3.65). The ECC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year recorded her 300th career draw control and 200th career ground ball during the season. The senior set a school record for career caused turnovers. Shimborske ends her impressive four-year career with 219 ground balls, 392 draw controls, 175 caused turnovers, seven goals and seven assists in 72 games. Shimborske ranks second in program history in ground balls and draw controls.
