ECC Women's Lacrosse Report - Week Nine

Player of the Week

Leah Hansen, Mercy
Senior | A | Greenlawn, NY

Hansen had a team-high 15 points on a team-high nine goals and six assists with three caused turnovers and three ground balls as Mercy went 2-0 in a pair of conference games. The senior opened the week with a game-high six points on three goals and three assists to go with three caused turnovers and a ground ball in the conference win over STAC on Wednesday. Hansen ended the week with a game-high and career-high-tying nine points on a game-high six goals and three assists with two ground balls in Mercy's win at D'Youville on Sunday. 


Defensive Player of the Week

Carly Howell, Molloy
Senior | D | East Meadow, NY

Howell was a defensive force for Molloy in the Lions' 15-1 conference victory at Daemen, setting new career-highs in both ground balls (9) and caused turnovers (7), topping the team in both categories. In non-league play, the senior also added four ground balls and two caused turnovers in a 19-4 victory over Caldwell to anchor Molloy’s defensive unit to just five goals allowed on the week. 


Rookie of the Week

Ashlinn Kelly, Mercy
Freshman | M | Farmingdale, NY

Kelly had 10 points on eight goals and two assists with four caused turnovers, seven draw controls, and two ground balls to help lead a Mercy defense that allowed just eight goals in a 2-0 conference week. The freshman opened the week with four goals, an assist and a caused turnover in the 20-2 win over STAC on Wednesday. Kelly ended the week with four goals, an assist, seven draw controls, two ground balls and a game-high three caused turnovers in Mercy's 21-6 win at D'Youville on Sunday. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Emma Blumenstock, Roberts Wesleyan
Senior | A | Penfield, NY

Blumenstock led the Roberts Wesleyan offense on Senior Day with four goals and six assists for 10 points in just the first two quarters in a 17-0 win over UDC. The 10 points lifted her to No. 2 on the all-time Roberts scoring list with 267 career points.

Lia MacDougall, Roberts Wesleyan 
Freshman | M | Saugerties, NY

MacDougall scored four goals for Roberts Wesleyan and added a team-leading six draw controls in the 17-0 victory over UDC over the weekend.

Kayden Meyer, Mercy
Freshman | M | Mastic, NY

Meyer had nine points on six goals and three assists to go with one caused turnover, one draw control, and two ground balls as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The freshman opened the week with two goals, two assists and two ground balls in the win over STAC on Wednesday. The midfielder ended the week with four goals, an assist, one caused turnover and one draw control in the win at D'Youville on Sunday. 

Megan Rugolo, Molloy
Senior | A | Oceanside, NY

Rugolo totaled 10 points on six goals and four assists in a 2-0 week for the Lions. The senior led with three goals and three assists against Caldwell before adding three goals and an assist against Daemen. A threat on all sides of the ball, Rugolo also tallied nine ground balls, five draw controls, and four caused turnovers on the week.

Riley Wallace, Mercy
Sophomore | M | Islip, NY

Wallace had eight points on seven goals and an assist with three draw controls as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The sophomore opened the week with four goals, an assist, and three draw controls in the win over STAC on Wednesday. The midfielder ended the week with three goals in the win at D'Youville on Sunday.
