COLONIA, NJ – The Mercy University Mavericks swept all six East Coast Conference (ECC) major awards and placed 10 student-athletes on the All-Conference teams. The ECC regular season champions advanced to the ECC Championship game after defeating fourth-seeded D’Youville University, 27–9, in the semifinals on Wednesday. In the other semifinal, second-seeded Roberts Wesleyan University defeated third-seeded Daemen, 15–9.
Freshman
Jessica Grzelacyk (Seaford, NY) earned both Attacker of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors.
Ashlinn Kelly (Farmingdale, NY) was named Midfielder of the Year for the second consecutive season.
Emily Marino (West Babylon, NY) was selected as the ECC Defender of the Year, while
Olivia LaMonica (Oak Ridge, NJ) earned Goalkeeper of the Year honors.
Head coach
Dawn Sachs was named ECC Coach of the Year for the sixth time. Now in her 14th season, Sachs has led the Mavericks to 10 consecutive ECC Tournament appearances. Mercy is seeking its ninth straight trip to the ECC Championship game. The Mavericks enter the weekend with a 13–3 overall record and a perfect 6–0 mark in conference play, and they are ranked No. 18 nationally.
Grzelacyk was named ECC Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week twice this season. She has totaled 34 goals and 23 assists for 57 points, along with 15 ground balls, 10 caused turnovers, and seven draw controls.
Kelly, the 2025 ECC Rookie of the Year, leads Mercy with 59 points on 41 goals and 17 assists. She also has 31 ground balls, 21 caused turnovers, and a team-high 33 draw controls. Kelly has recorded three game-winning goals and eight free-position goals.
Marino earned ECC Defensive Player of the Week honors once and leads the team with 28 caused turnovers (fourth in the ECC) and 37 ground balls (sixth in the ECC). As a team, the Mavericks lead the conference with 11.19 caused turnovers per game and rank second with 18.06 ground balls per game.
LaMonica ranks second in the conference with a .439 save percentage and is fourth in saves (104) and saves per game (6.13). The preseason Defensive Player of the Year, she has been named ECC Goalkeeper of the Week three times and ranks second on the team with 33 ground balls.
Mercy and Roberts Wesleyan will face off on Saturday, May 2, for the ECC Championship. Fans can follow all the action on FloCollege.
