ECC Women's Lacrosse Report - Week 11

Offensive Player of the Week

Madison Buck, D’Youville
Junior | A | Rochester, NY

Buck had an outstanding week for the Saints, racking up 18 points on seven goals and 11 assists. In DYU’s 25-2 win over UDC, Buck had five goals and 10 assists, setting the program record for most assists in a game by an individual. Buck also helped in the efforts of most assists in a game by the team with 18 total. Buck then added two goals and a helper against Daemen. 


Defensive Player of the Week

Olivia LaMonica, Mercy
Junior | GK | Oak Ridge, NJ

LaMonica made a game-high and career-high 14 saves with just eight goals allowed to earn the win in Mercy's 10-8 victory over defending ECC Champion Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday that gave the Mavericks a share of the ECC Regular Season Championship and the top seed for the upcoming ECC Women’s Lacrosse Championship. LaMonica recorded her 200th career save in the win. 


Rookie of the Week

Molly Evans, Daemen
Freshman | GK | Fulton, NY

Evans made nine saves, including five in the third quarter, to lead Daemen to a 12-12 overtime win over D’Youville to punch the Wildcats’ ticket to the postseason for the first time in program history. The Daemen freshman goalkeeper only allowed four second-half goals en route to the victory. Against No. 24 Dominican, Evans made 19 saves, the third most in a single game in Daemen program history. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Alessandra Borsellino, Molloy
Senior | M | Hewlett, NY

Borsellino was effective both as a scorer and a distributor to close out the regular season for Molloy. The midfielder netted a career-high six points on a career-high three goals and three assists against St. Thomas Aquinas to lead the offense. The senior also led the team with three ground balls while controlling two draws. 

Cameron Briggs, Daemen
Senior | M | Buffalo, NY

Briggs tallied six points on four goals and one assist with four ground balls and one free-position goal in Daemen's 1-1 week. Against D'Youville, Briggs had five points on three goals and two helpers, four ground balls, and a free-position goal to help Daemen win 13-12 in OT to punch their ticket to this week’s ECC Women's Lacrosse Championship. She added a goal against No. 24 Dominican later in the week.

Katelyn Cerrato, St. Thomas Aquinas
Graduate Student | M | Mohegan Lake, NY

Cerrato recorded 11 goals and four assists for a 15 point week, including a nine-point performance (7g, 2a) against District of Columbia and five-point performance (4g, 1a) vs. Molloy. The STAC midfielder also won 13 draw controls, scooped up 13 ground balls, and caused a pair of turnovers across three games on the week. 

Katelynn Deveans, Daemen
Senior | M | Clinton, NY

Deveans tallied one goal, four ground balls, three caused turnovers, and five draw controls to reach 200 for her career in Daemen's 13-12 overtime win vs D'Youville.

Molly Evans, Daemen
Freshman | GK | Fulton, NY

Evans went 1-1 in net as the Wildcats starter this past week, making nine nine saves in Daemen's 13-12 overtime win against D'Youville to punch the Wildcats’ ticket to the postseason for the first time in program history. She went on to make 19 saves in a loss to No. 24 Dominican.

Hailey Galison, St. Thomas Aquinas
Graduate Student | M | Wantagh, NY

Galison tallied nine goals and two assists for an 11-point week, including a seven-goal performance against the UDC Firebirds. The STAC midfielder also won 16 draw controls, scooped up 23 ground balls, and caused eight turnovers in games against Southern Connecticut, District of Columbia, and Molloy.

Madison Handley, D’Youville
Junior | A | Lancaster, NY

Handley had a solid week for the Saints, scoring 12 goals while adding three assists. In the team's 25-2 win over UDC, Handley had seven goals and three assists.

Ashlinn Kelly, Mercy
Freshman | M | Farmingdale, NY

Kelly had a game-high three goals and four caused turnovers with a ground ball in Mercy's 10-8 win over defending ECC Champion Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday that gave the Mavericks a share of the ECC Regular Season Championship and the top seed in the ECC Championship. 

Lindsey Shimborske, Mercy
Senior | D | Farmingdale, NY

Shimborske had a game-high six ground balls and six draw controls with three caused turnovers in Mercy's 10-8 win over defending ECC Champion Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday that gave the Mavericks a share of the ECC Regular Season Championship and the top seed in this week’s ECC Women’s Lacrosse Championship.

Jada Williams, District of Columbia
Senior | M/A | Kingston, Jamaica

Williams scored five goals, scooped seven ground balls, won five draw controls, and forced four turnovers in the Firebirds narrow loss to STAC. Against D’Youville, Williams won six draw controls, scooped three ground balls, and forced two turnovers.
