ECC Women's Lacrosse Report - Week Six

Co-Offensive Players of the Week

Shannen Calandra, Daemen
Sophomore | A | Rome, NY

Calandra notched 10 points on five goals and five assists to go with three ground balls and four draw controls across two games last week. After scoring against Saint Anselm, who had been ranked in the nation’s Top 25 a week prior, the Daemen sophomore attacker went off for nine points on four goals and five assists in a 24-3 ECC win over St. Thomas Aquinas. Calandra’s nine points tie Daemen’s program record for single-game points.

Kadie Tierney, Roberts Wesleyan
Junior | M | Marcellus, NY

Tierney was the difference-maker in Roberts Wesleyan’s 15-12, come-from-behind win over Molloy in ECC play on Saturday. With the Redhawks trailing 9-8 late in the third quarter, Tierney rattled off three straight goals to give the RWU the lead en route to the win. Tierney finished the game with eight points on five goals and three assists to go with three caused turnovers on the day. 


Defensive Player of the Week

Lindsey Shimborske, Mercy
Senior | D | Farmingdale, NY

Shimborske held her own against the top two teams in the country last week, posting 13 ground balls, six caused turnovers, and eight draw controls. The Mercy senior opened the week with seven ground balls, three caused turnovers, and two draw controls at defending National Champion #1 Tampa on Monday. The defender ended the week with a game-high six ground balls and three caused turnovers to go with six draw controls in Mercy's 12-8 loss at #2 Florida Southern on Wednesday. 


Rookie of the Week

Marianna Szamoskozi, Daemen
Freshman | A/M/GK | Port Coquitlam, British Columbia

Szamoskozi’s versatility came through this week for the Wildcats. After playing as a midfielder against Saint Anselm to open the week, Szamoskozi made her first collegiate start in net as Daemen’s ‘emergency’ goalkeeper in ECC play at St. Thomas Aquinas; she made five saves vs. just three goals allowed for a .625 save percentage with three ground balls to pick up her first collegiate win in net. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Alison Dioguardi, Roberts Wesleyan
Sophomore | M | Rochester, NY

Dioguardi notched five goals as Roberts Wesleyan came from behind to defeat Molloy in the ECC opener on Saturday, 15-12.

Madison Handley, D’Youville
Junior | A | Lancaster, NY

Handley recorded seven points on the week, including six in a five-goal, one-assist effort against Saint Anselm.

Shawna Lesmerises, Roberts Wesleyan
Senior | GK | Merrimack, NH

Lesmerises made six saves in net in Roberts Wesleyan’s 15-12 ECC win over Molloy. She also keyed an RWU clearing unit to a 15-of-18 showing. 

Sofia Quitoni, Molloy
Senior | M | Wantagh, NY

Quitoni accounted for half of Molloy's offense this week, scoring a career-high six goals against Roberts Wesleyan. The senior also added two caused turnovers, a ground ball, and a draw control.
