ECC Women's Tennis Report - Week One


Co-Player of the Week
Laura Marie, District of Columbia (Junior, Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, France)
Marie went 2-0 on UDC's opening week, picking up the win at No. 1 singles (7-5, 6-1) and No. 2 doubles (6-2) to help lead UDC to a 4-3 win over Jefferson. 

 


Co-Player of the Week
Kitsa Scime, Daemen (Junior, Williamsville, N.Y.)
Scime opened the year by going 3-1 in singles play and 3-2 in doubles completion. The junior went 1-1 in singles and 1-2 in doubles at the Allegheny College Invitational and went undefeated at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles during dual-match wins over St. John Fisher and William Smith. In a milestone moment, Scime picked up her 25th career singles win during the win over SJFU. 


Rookie of the Week
Polina Zelentsova, District of Columbia (Freshman, Chaiky, Ukraine)
In her debut as a Firebird, Zelentsova battled to an impressive 7-5, 6-3 win against strong opposition at the No. 2 position to help UDC to a 4-3 win over Jefferson.
