COLONIA, NJ – For the fourth consecutive season, Mercy, Molloy, Frostburg State, and Roberts Wesleyan have qualified for the East Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Championship. For the first time ever, one of those teams will earn the ECC’s automatic bid into the 2025 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
The tournament gets underway on Wednesday, April 30 with the semifinal matchups on the campus sites of the higher seeds. The championship game of the tournament will be hosted by the highest remaining seed on Saturday, May 3 at a time to be determined.
After earning a sixth straight ECC Regular Season Championship, Mercy (9-3, 6-0 ECC) will be the tournament’s top seed. The five-time defending champion Mavericks have now won 41 straight games against ECC competition, with their last loss coming in the 2018 ECC Championship. Mercy is currently ranked No. 7 by USA Lacrosse Magazine, No. 11 by Inside Lacrosse, and No. 12 by the USILA.
Molloy, ranked 15th this week by the USILA, earns the No. 2 seed by way of a 5-1 mark in regular season conference play. The Lions (13-4) are back in the bracket for a fifth straight year and sixth time in the last seven seasons.
No. 3 Frostburg State (7-8, 4-2 ECC), has reached the ECC Final in each of its last three seasons.
Roberts Wesleyan (6-7, 3-3 ECC) is making its sixth consecutive appearance in the championship tournament. The Redhawks have reached the ECC Final once, back in 2021.
