Molloy Wins Second Straight East Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Championship

The Lions defeat Frostburg State, 20-8; next stop NCAA Championships

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY – The Molloy University Lions captured their second consecutive East Coast Conference (ECC) Men’s Lacrosse Championship this afternoon, defeating the Frostburg State University Bobcats, 20–8. With the win, the Lions earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
 
Molloy’s Noah Hammon was named Most Outstanding Player. The All-Conference Second Team selection finished with six goals and three assists for a game-high nine points.
 
The Lions came out firing, scoring six goals in the first 3:42 of the opening quarter, with six different players finding the back of the net. Molloy added three more goals to take a commanding 9–0 lead into the second quarter. The Lions extended their advantage to 11–0 with 11:50 remaining in the second before Frostburg State responded with three straight goals. Molloy closed the half with two more tallies to lead 13–3 at the break.
 
Jake Taylor paced the Lions in the first half with six points (1 goal, 5 assists), while Hammon recorded four goals and two assists. ECC Offensive Player of the Year Brian Green and Rookie of the Year Jaden Simick each scored twice. Henry Sykes had one goal and one assist for the Bobcats.

Molloy scored two of the three goals in the third quarter to take a 15–5 lead into the final frame. The teams combined for nine goals in the fourth quarter, resulting in the 20–8 final.
 
Taylor finished with two goals and five assists, while Justin Palulis added two goals and two assists. Green scored three goals. ECC Goalie of the Year John Basile made seven saves to earn the win.
 
For Frostburg State, All-Conference First Team selection Hayden Celio (1 goal, 3 assists) and second team pick Luke Roach (2 goals, 2 assists) led the way with four points each. Sykes added a goal and an assist. Jack Smith started in goal and made two saves, while Lukasz Barmosz recorded 16 saves in relief.
