East Coast Conference Announces Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Year

Roberts Wesleyan earned three awards; Queens takes the fourth

COLONIA, N.J. – The East Coast Conference (ECC) announced its Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Year on Monday. Roberts Wesleyan University senior Jackson Doran (Lockport, N.Y.) was named Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, while teammate Austin Melvin (Syracuse, N.Y.) earned Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year honors. Queens College junior Carly Koprowski (Wantagh, N.Y.) was selected as Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, and Roberts Wesleyan sophomore Karis Kraf (Tampa, Fla.) was named Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year.

Doran helped lead the Redhawks to a second-place finish at the ECC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, highlighted by a conference title in the 800-meter run. He also broke his own school record in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:44.09. Doran qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships, where he narrowly missed advancing to the final after a strong closing lap in the preliminary round.

Melvin earned NCAA Division II First Team All-America honors in the pole vault after placing seventh at the national championships. He cleared a school-record 5.26 meters (17 feet, 3 inches) during the season and captured the ECC title in the event, setting a championship meet record with a vault of 5.02 meters (16 feet, 5.5 inches).

Koprowski secured her second consecutive ECC championship in the 800 meters, posting a winning time of 2:15.77 to earn First Team All-ECC recognition. She also achieved the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard at the West Chester Last Chance Meet, recording a time of 2:11.18.

Kraf garnered NCAA Division II First Team All-America honors in the pole vault after finishing second nationally with a career-best clearance of 4.15 meters (13 feet, 7.25 inches). She also placed second at the ECC Championships, earning First Team All-ECC honors in the event.
