ECC Women's Soccer Report - Week One

Offensive Player of the Week

Hailey Metzger, Mercy
Sophomore | Forward | Levittown, NY
Metzger had a team-high seven points on two goals and three assists as Mercy went 2-0 to start the season. The sophomore opened the week with a goal and a game-high three assists in the win over Dominican on Thursday. The forward ended the week with a goal in the Mavericks' win over Goldey-Beacom on Sunday. 


Defensive Player of the Week

Becca Schultz, Daemen
Senior | Goalkeeper | Grand Island, NY
Schultz delivered a standout performance in Daemen’s win over AIC, making several crucial saves in the closing minutes to withstand a barrage of shots from the Yellow Jackets and preserve the narrow lead through the final whistle. She finished the match with five saves across 90 minutes to earn her first victory of the season. Earlier in the week, Schultz also impressed against Assumption, recording 13 saves while allowing just one goal.


Rookie of the Week

Gracie DiPalo, Mercy
Freshman | Forward | Manorville, NY

DiPalo scored the game-winning goal in the 58th minute of Mercy's win over Goldey-Beacom on Sunday for her first collegiate goal. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Ancksu Dixon, Mercy
Senior | Forward | Freeport, NY

Dixon recorded a hat trick, including the game-winning goal, in Mercy's season-opening win over Dominican on Thursday. 

Kylie Miranto, Daemen
Senior | Forward | North Tonawanda, NY 

Miranto powered Daemen’s comeback win over AIC on Sunday with a five-point performance, netting two goals and adding an assist. She tied the game at 1-1 with her first-half strike before assisting on the goal that leveled the score at 2-2. In the 79th minute, Miranto delivered the game-winner to seal the victory. The standout effort marked the 10th multi-goal game of her career, her 14th contest with three or more points, and her 11th career game-winning goal.

Mackenzie Hagen, Roberts Wesleyan
Sophomore | Forward | Bergen, NY
Sophomore Mackenzie Hagen scored a pair of goals to help the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Soccer team to an undefeated start to the season. She scored the game-tying goal in a 1-1 draw in the opener at Ohio Dominican University and added the game-winning goal as the Redhawks posted a 3-1 victory at Thomas More University in Kentucky. 

Lily Macfarlane, Daemen
Junior | Defender/Forward | Murcott, England

Macfarlane turned in a breakout performance in the win over AIC, recording three points with a goal and an assist. She first set up the equalizer that tied the game at 1-1, then found the back of the net herself in the 55th minute to level the score at 2-2 with a precise shot into the right side netting. The effort marked her first career three-plus point game and included the first goal of her collegiate career.
