No. 3 Mercy, No. 6 Roberts Wesleyan Headed to 2025 NCAA Women's Soccer East Region Championship

COLONIA, N.J. – The rematch is set… on the national stage.

No. 3 Mercy and No. 6 Roberts Wesleyan will face each other for the second time in five days when the Mavericks and Redhawks battle in the 2025 NCAA Women's Soccer East Region Championship First Round up at Franklin Pierce on Friday, November 21. 

Mercy and Roberts Wesleyan played for the ECC Women's Soccer Championship title on Sunday afternoon, with the Redhawks coming away with the 1-0 victory en route to the program's first-ever ECC trophy.

ECC tournament runner-up Mercy (14-3-2, 5-0-2 ECC) will make its eighth NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2022. The Mavericks are seeded third and earned an at-large bid after ranking No. 1 in last week's NCAA East Region rankings.

ECC Defensive Player of the Year Sarah Lill Hanks and ECC Rookie of the Year Casey Szczotka anchor Mercy's back line while All-ECC First Team forward Ancksu Dixon (13g, 4a) and All-ECC Second Team forward Hailey Metzger (9g, 12a) bolster the offense and All-ECC First Team midfielder Camila Salvador leads from the middle. 

ECC tournament champion Roberts Wesleyan (11-3-4, 4-1-2 ECC) earned the conference's AQ and is seeded sixth as the Redhawks make their third trip to the NCAA field after earning at-large bids in 2015 and 2023.

The All-ECC Second Team trio of forward Mackenzie Hagan (7g, 4a), midfielder Kara Choate (5g, 3a), and back Cami Brescia (2g, 7a) alongside ECC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament Most Outstanding Player Jenna Northup (8g, 1a) pace the Redhawks alongside goalkeeper Mia Tyndell, who made 18 saves vs. one goal allowed in the ECC postseason. 

The winner of Friday's Roberts Wesleyan/Mercy match will face No. 2 Franklin Pierce in the Second Round at Franklin Pierce on Sunday, November 23. 

Saint Anselm College earns the No. 1 seed. The Hawks will host a First Round game between No. 4 Jefferson University and No. 5 Wilmington on Friday, November 21. Saint Anselm will host the winner of Wilmington/Jefferson in a Second Round game on Sunday, November 23.
