Holy Family's Pierre, Jones, Brandon and Roberts Wesleyan's McCown Earn Indoor T&F Major Awards

COLONIA, NJ – Holy Family men’s track and field senior Nishorn Pierre (Grenada) and Holy Family women’s track and field sophomore Ocelia Jones (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) have been selected the 2025 ECC Indoor Track & Field Male and Female Athletes of the Year, respectively, as voted on by the league’s head coaches and announced on Tuesday morning. Additionally, Holy Family’s Dwight Brandon and Roberts Wesleyan’s Mark McCown were tabbed the ECC Indoor Track & Field Coaches of the Year on the men’s and women’s side, respectively.

Pierre earned his fourth career All-America honor in the high jump at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships last weekend, including his third straight in the indoor season and his third career First Team nod. The Hoy Family senior cleared his first attempts at 2.01m and 2.06m and then his second attempts at 2.11m and 2.14m, the latter of which sealed his First Team All-America status. Pierre added his first career All-America honor in the triple jump after placing ninth with a mark of 15.07m. 

At this year’s ECC Indoor Track & Field Championships, Pierre won a pair of gold medals in the high jump (2.03m) and triple jump, breaking the meet record in the latter with a leap of 15.16m. He also scored in the long jump with a fifth-place finish (6.81m) en route to earning Most Outstanding Athlete accolades from the meet. In all, Pierre won nine jump event on the indoor season. 

Jones had a breakout year in the hurdles and sprint events. She qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 60m hurdles with a first-place time of 8.73, anchored the first-place 4x400m relay (3:59.12, 58.02 split), and placed second in the 400m (59.11) at the ECC Indoor Track & Field Championships. Jones finished with 10 top-ten performances on the indoor season. 

Brandon earns his third consecutive and second outright ECC Indoor Men’s Track & Field Coach of the Year honor after the Tigers took home the ECC Indoor Track & Field Championships men’s team title on February 16.

McCown takes home ECC Indoor Women’s Track & Field Women’s Coach of the Year after the Roberts Wesleyan women won their fifth ECC Indoor Track & Field Championships women’s team title in program history, and first since 2018.
