Queens Earns Four of Five Major Awards as 2025 ECC Men’s Soccer All-Conference Honors Announced

COLONIA, N.J. – The 2025 ECC regular season champion Queens Knights took home four of the five major awards to headline the ECC Men's Soccer All-Conference awards, as voted on by the league's nine head coaches and announced on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the start of the 2025 ECC Men's Soccer Championship. ECC Offensive Player of the Year honors went to Molloy graduate student forward Danu Kinsella Bishop (Dublin, Ireland) while Queens redshirt junior Tommy Wagner (East Northport, N.Y.) was tabbed the ECC Defensive Player of the Year, Queens redshirt sophomore Thanasis Shehadeh (Nicosia, Cyprus) repeated as the ECC Goalkeeper of the Year, and Queens freshman forward Bradyn Brown (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was unanimously selected the ECC Rookie of the Year. Queens head coach Frank Vertullo repeated as the ECC Coach of the Year.

In all, No. 1 seed Queens led the way with an ECC-leading nine All-Conference selections, including an ECC-leading six First Team honorees. No. 5 seed District of Columbia finished with seven All-Conference picks, followed by No. 4 Mercy and No. 2 Roberts Wesleyan with five apiece. No. 6 Molloy and No. 3 St. Thomas Aquinas saw four All-Conference honorees each while Staten Island landed one. 

Kinsella Bishop was voted the ECC's Offensive Player of the Year after leading the conference with 13 goals across 12 matches played for an NCAA Division II-leading average of 1.08 goals per game to go with 2.25 points per match, which ranks second in the country. In conference-only action, Kinsella Bishop notched 23 points, with three goals in a win over Daemen, two goals against St. Thomas Aquinas and Roberts Wesleyan, a goal and an assist in a win over D'Youville, and goals in 1-1 draws against Staten Island, Mercy, and District of Columbia. 

ECC Defensive Player of the Year Wagner started 17 matches for the Knights, logging 1,413 minutes on the back line. The redshirt junior turned in 11 full matches and played the full 90:00 in ECC wins over Mercy, where he added a goal out of the back, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Staten Island. Under Wagner's leadership, QC boasted the top team goals against average in the conference at a clip of 88.9 percent. 

The other half of QC's defensive duo, Shehadeh repeats as the ECC Goalkeeper of the Year after going 12-3-3 in net, making all 18 starts with an ECC-leading 1601:58 minutes played, which ranks second among all Division II goalkeepers. Shehadeh topped the ECC in goals against average (84.3) and shutouts (5) while ranking second save percentage (80.0) and led all ECC keepers with a 1.000 goals against average in conference competition. Shehadeh went 6-0-2 between the pipes in ECC action and added a pair of assists on the season, against St. Anselm and Mercy.

Brown was tabbed the ECC Rookie of the Year after tying for the conference lead with 28 points on 12 goals, which ranks fifth in NCAA Division II, and four assists. In his eight conference matches, Brown led all rookies in points (14) and goals (6), scoring twice against Daemen, notching match-winning goals against Mercy and District of Columbia, the equalizing goal in a draw with Molloy, a late goal in the regular season finale against Roberts Wesleyan, and dishing out a pair of assists, including the match-winning helper, against St. Thomas Aquinas. Brown ranks 15th in the nation in shot accuracy, landing shots on frame 57.7 percent of the time.

After leading his Knights to their second consecutive ECC Regular Season Championship, Vertullo repeated as the ECC Coach of the Year. QC finished with a 12-3-3 overall record and 6-0-2 mark in ECC play to earn the No. 1 seed heading into the ECC Championship.
