The road to the title once again runs through the reigning powerhouse. Ten-time defending champion Roberts Wesleyan enters Saturday’s race with its sights set on an unprecedented 11th consecutive ECC crown. Guided by reigning ECC Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year Andrew Dorr, the Redhawks have built a dynasty of dominance.

This year’s lineup looks every bit as formidable. Preseason Runner of the Year Rachel Horner-Richardson returns to lead the charge, joined by fellow All-ECC First Team standouts Lydia Roselund and Paige Reeser. Together, they’ve propelled Roberts Wesleyan to the No. 1 spot in the USTFCCCA East Region rankings, where they continue to set the standard for excellence in the conference.

But the Redhawks aren’t running unchallenged. Daemen and D’Youville have both made their mark in the regional rankings, sitting at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, and both programs have their eyes on the podium.

For Daemen, the hunt for the title is far from unfamiliar. The Wildcats came within striking distance of the Redhawks last fall and remain a legitimate threat to end Roberts’ streak. Led by returning All-ECC Second Team honorees Christa Oates and Patsy Oberholzer, Daemen brings a mix of experience and hunger that could make things interesting at the front of the pack.

Meanwhile, D’Youville has emerged as one of the season’s most exciting storylines. The Saints have surged into contention behind the breakout performance of transfer sensation Lilianna Peters, who has quickly established herself as a top runner in her first ECC campaign. Alongside her, Lily Schultz returns looking to improve on last year’s top-30 finish, while promising freshmen Elaina Williams and Andrea Marquina add even more firepower to a roster on the rise.

Molloy also finds itself in the regional mix, checking in at No. 9 in the East Region rankings. The Lions were picked second in the Preseason Poll, even earning a first-place vote — a testament to the program’s growing strength and potential to disrupt the top contenders.

Rounding out this year’s field are District of Columbia, Queens, Staten Island, and St. Thomas Aquinas, each ready to make their mark on championship Saturday. With established powerhouses and rising challengers alike, the women’s race promises to be a showcase of speed, stamina, and championship spirit.

Another year, another chance at history for Roberts Wesleyan. The Redhawks enter Saturday’s race seeking their 11th consecutive ECC title, once again standing as the standard-bearers of men’s cross country in the conference. Under the leadership of reigning ECC Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year Andrew Dorr, Roberts brings both championship pedigree and fresh firepower to the starting line.

The Redhawks’ depth remains a defining strength. All-ECC First Team standout Trevor Heitkamp returns to anchor the lineup, joined by Second Team and top-10 finishers Jakob Zibbel and Juvenal Diaz-Cortes — a trio more than capable of keeping the dynasty alive. Roberts also welcomes back Preseason Runner of the Year Jackson Doran, who has returned in strong form after missing last season and already posted an impressive 25:12.7 this fall. His comeback adds another weapon to a team that has captured every ECC men’s championship since the program joined the conference.

Roberts enters the weekend ranked No. 2 in the USTFCCCA East Region, continuing to battle among the top teams in the Northeast. But the Redhawks will once again face familiar competition in the Daemen Wildcats, who check in at No. 9 in the East Region and have finished runner-up to Roberts in each of the last three championships.

Daemen, tabbed second in the Preseason Poll, is built to challenge the throne. With returning top-20 finishers Ethan Keating and Josh Trometer leading the charge, and junior standout CJ Johnson — the Preseason Runner of the Year runner-up — looking to deliver a statement race, the Wildcats have the pieces to make a serious push for the crown.

Molloy has also made its mark in the East Region rankings throughout the fall and joins St. Thomas Aquinas, D’Youville, Queens, and Staten Island in rounding out the championship field. With seasoned contenders and emerging programs all toeing the line, the men’s race promises an intense battle from start to finish.

The top 14 finishers from each gender will earn All-ECC recognition, with the 1-7 finishers creating the First Team and 8-14 finishers creating the Second Team. The ECC Most Outstanding Runner, Most Outstanding Rookie, and Coach of the Year will also be awarded.
