ECC Women's Basketball Report - Week Eight

Player of the Week

Syrita Faraj, St. Thomas Aquinas
Senior | G/F | Troy, NY
Faraj racked up a double-double, posting a game-high 31 points and a game-high 17 rebounds in STAC's 90-84 overtime loss at Post on Tuesday. The senior guard/forward also tallied five assists and two steals in 40 minutes of action against the Eagles. Faraj shot 59.0 percent (13-of-22) from the field, 50.0 percent (1-of-2) from beyond the arc, and 100.0 percent (4-of-4) from the charity stripe.


Defensive Player of the Week

Angelina Barrera, Mercy
Junior | F | Gloucester City, NJ
Barrera had 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting with six rebounds, four assists, and two blocks in Mercy's 68-62 win over East Stroudsburg on Thursday. The junior drew a charge in the final minute of play with Mercy leading by two to help lead the Mavericks to the win. 


Rookie of the Week

Grace Lesko, Mercy
Sophomore | F | Northampton, PA
Lesko had a career-high and team-high 22 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor and 13-of-14 shooting from the foul line with two rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 24 minutes in Mercy's 68-62 win over East Stroudsburg on Thursday. The sophomore scored the go-ahead points at the foul line with 50 seconds left. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Claire Pikett, Daemen
Junior | F | Holland, NY

Pikett scored in double digits for the eighth game this season, totaling 19 points after shooting 46.7 percent from the field (7-of-15) and 42.9 percent beyond the arc (3-of-7); 13 of her points came in the second half as the Wildcats dropped a 77-74 nail-biter to RV Indiana (Pa.) on Friday night. The Daemen junior forward totaled four defensive rebounds, five assists, one block, and one steal in her stellar performance. 

Jaclyn Stanavich, Mercy
Senior | G | Amsterdam, NY

Stanavich had 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting with a team-high seven rebounds to go with one steal in Mercy's 68-62 win over East Stroudsburg on Thursday.
