The ECC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year kicked off his senior season with his first career hat trick as Evans scored all three goals in STAC’s 3-2, season-opening win over Goldey-Beacom on Thursday afternoon. Evans equalized in both the 61 minute, assisted by Elias Ait Bouali, and 70th minute, assisted by Yahir Hernandez, before converting the match-winning penalty kick in the 89th minute.
Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Tamas Nagy, Roberts Wesleyan
Fifth Year | Forward | Szár, Hungary
Nagy scored three goals in the opening 28:25 to lead Roberts Wesleyan to a 3-0 win over Walsh in the squad’s 2024 season opener on Thursday evening. Nagy converted on a penalty kick in the 14th minute before adding spectacular strikes in the 25th and 29th minutes to provide the Redhawks with all the offense it needed. The fifth year forward completed his hat trick with a 25-yard shot from the center of the field.
Defensive Player of the Week
Eirik Elvestad, Mercy
Senior | Goalkeeper | Oslo, Norway
The ECC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year opened the 2024 campaign strong, as Elvestad made a career-high 12 saves - six in each half - to backstop Mercy to a 0-0 draw against East Stroudsburg on Thursday afternoon.
Rookie of the Week
Callum Hunt, Molloy
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Norwich, England
In his collegiate debut on Saturday, Hunt earned the start in net and made seven saves in the full 90:00 to pick up his first collegiate win and first collegiate clean sheet in Molloy’s 1-0 victory over Saint Anselm.
ECC Weekly Honor Roll
Arturo Bustamante, Daemen
Senior | Goalkeeper | South Gate, CA
Bustamante went 1-1 on the season, earning his first win of the 2024 campaign in a 2-1 victory over Walsh on Saturday with a career-high 10 saves and a .909 save percentage. He had also made five saves against Malone on Thursday.
Caleb DaSilva, Roberts Wesleyan
Senior | Goalkeeper | Markham, Ontario
DaSilva made seven saves, including some big stops in the second half, to secure the clean sheet in Roberts Wesleyan’s 3-0 win over Walsh in the squad’s 2024 season opener on Thursday evening. He added four more saves against Malone.
Miguel Espinosa, Staten Island
Senior | Forward | Panama City, Panama
Espinosa scored two goals in CSI's season-opener against Assumption University on Saturday. Each of the two goals came on a penalty kick and both were game-tying scores. The senior also led the Dolphins with three shots in the match.
Ignacio Lopez, District of Columbia
Sophomore | Midfielder | Madrid, Spain
Lopez assisted on both goals in the Firebirds’ 2-0 win over Goldey-Beacom.
Emmanuel Perez, Daemen
Senior | Defender | Los Angeles, CA
Perez scored the game-winning goal for Daemen in a 2-1 win over Walsh on Saturday, intercepting a failed clear ball from the Cavs’ defense. The goal also marked the first of his collegiate career.
Ignacio Pericet, District of Columbia
Senior | Forward | Cardiz, Spain
Pericet's early brace against Goldey-Beacom led to the Firebirds first win of the season, a 2-0 victory on Sunday afternoon.
Miguel Soto Gonzalez, Queens
Sophomore | Forward | Madrid, Spain
Making his debut in Knights colors, Soto Gonzalez paced Queens’ offense with a brace in the season opener against Assumption on Thursday evening, scoring in the fourth minute and 21st minute (on a blast from 19 yards out) in QC’s 3-2 loss to Assumption. Soto Gonzalez played the full 180:00 in Queens’ pair of matches on the weekend.
