Concord University to Join ECC Esports in Fall 2024

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – Concord University has accepted an invitation to join ECC Esports beginning this upcoming Fall 2024 semester, the East Coast Conference announced on Thursday afternoon.

Concord University, located in Athens, W. Va., becomes the 18th member of ECC Esports and the league's 10th associate member, joining Farmingdale State College, Florida State University, Mount Saint Mary University, New York Institute of Technology, Southern New Hampshire University, St. Joseph's College (LI), the University of Mount Saint Vincent, the University of New Haven, and Utica University.

ECC full-time members Daemen University, University of the District of Columbia, D'Youville University, Mercy University, Molloy University, Roberts Wesleyan University, College of Staten Island, and St. Thomas Aquinas College also participate in ECC Esports.

"We are pleased to bring Concord on board as a new member of ECC Esports," said ECC Commissioner Dr. Robert Dranoff. "We believe ECC Esports will be a great home for its program and that they will quickly contribute to our conference."

"Concord Esports is excited to be competing in the ECC starting this fall," said Esports Director Austin Clay. "We are impressed with their commitment to Esports by ensuring that the grand finals for all games will be at an in-person event each season. We here at Concord are ready to show off our skills in the games that the ECC has to offer." 

ECC Esports just completed its sixth season during the 2023-24 academic year, in which the league offered championships in both the fall and spring semesters in five different games (Overwatch 2, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Valorant, and Rocket League) and worked with EsportsU to manage Esports operations and championships.
