LaMonica Named IWLCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week

DOBBS FERRY, NY – Mercy University women's lacrosse junior Olivia LaMonica (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) has been named the IWLCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week.

LaMonica made a game-high and career-high 14 saves with just eight goals allowed to earn the win in Mercy's 10-8 victory over defending ECC Champion Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday that gave the Mavericks a share of the ECC Regular Season Championship and the top seed for the upcoming ECC Women's Lacrosse Championship. LaMonica recorded her 200th career save in the win. 

The award is the third for LaMonica this season. The junior was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week yesterday. Mercy has now earned 33 awards on the year.

Head Coach Dawn Sachs and the Mavericks resume action tomorrow when they host Daemen at 12 p.m.
