Mercy Women’s Lacrosse Captures the East Coast Conference Championship

Mavericks defeat Roberts Wesleyan, 21-1; Next stop, NCAA Championships

DOBBS FERRY, NY – The Mercy University Mavericks captured their fourth East Coast Conference (ECC) Women’s Lacrosse Championship this afternoon with a 21–1 victory over the Roberts Wesleyan University Redhawks. The win completes an undefeated run against ECC opponents and secures the conference’s automatic berth into the NCAA Championships.
 
Mercy’s Riley Wallace was named Most Outstanding Player after scoring five goals. The All-Conference Second Team selection led a high-powered Mavericks offense throughout the contest.
 
The Mavericks surged to an early 6–0 lead, with five different players finding the back of the net, including two goals from ECC Attack and Rookie of the Year Jessica Grzelaczyk. Mercy extended its advantage to 8–1 by the end of the first quarter.
 
In the second quarter, Mercy took full control, scoring seven unanswered goals to head into halftime with a commanding 15–1 lead. Conference Rookie of the Year Ava Franco and All-Conference First Team selection Kayden Meyer each recorded three goals and one assist in the first half. ECC Midfielder of the Year Ashlinn Kelly contributed two goals and two assists.
 
Mercy continued its dominance in the second half, adding three goals in the third quarter and three more in the fourth to secure the 21–1 final.
 
Meyer finished with four goals and one assist, while Franco added three goals and one assist. Andrea Mott contributed four assists, and Kelly totaled two goals and two assists. Grzelaczyk scored three goals. ECC Goalie of the Year Olivia LaMonica earned the win with five saves.
 
For Roberts Wesleyan, Hannah Sparks scored the team’s lone goal off an assist from All-ECC First Team selection Ella Dossier. Goalie Josella Harrison recorded five saves.
