St. Thomas Aquinas Earns ECC Regular Season Title, Top Seed for Softball Championship

COLONIA, NJ – The East Coast Conference has announced the double-elimination bracket for the 2025 ECC Softball Championship, which will run from May 1-3 at St. Thomas Aquinas’ Spartan Field in Sparkill, NY. No. 1 St. Thomas Aquinas, No. 2 Mercy, No. 3 Molloy, and No. 4 D’Youville will compete for the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Softball Championship.

STAC went 16-4 in the ECC regular season to win its fourth consecutive ECC Regular Season Championship, winning it outright in 2022 and sharing it with Molloy in 2023 and 2024, and right to host this weekend. The two-time defending tournament champion Spartans (28-17) have appeared in three of the last four finals as they make their sixth consecutive postseason appearance.

Mercy earns the No. 2 seed by way of a 12-8 mark in regular season conference play. The Mavericks (22-20) are back in the bracket for their fifth straight year and will look for their second ever ECC crown, having taken it all once, in 2017.

No. 3 Molloy (19-29, 11-9 ECC), runners-up for the last three years, is back in the postseason tournament for the 15th time in the last 16 seasons and is in search of its sixth ECC title and first since 2016.

D’Youville (19-17, 9-11 ECC), who clinched the No. 4 seed on the last day of the regular season, will make history as the Saints appear in their first ever ECC Softball Championship.

All games during the championship will be broadcast live on the ECC Network website and the ECC Network app on Apple and Android mobile devices and on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, and Roku streaming devices.
