ECC Baseball Report - Week 12

Player of the Week

Matt Filip, Queens
Junior | First Baseman | Maspeth, N.Y.

It was an excellent week for Filip to conclude the regular season as he batted .389 (7-for-18), SLG % of .667, OB % of .368 recording seven hits, two doubles, one home run, a team-high eight RBI, and five runs scored with 12 total bases. The Maspeth native recorded a five-game hitting streak on the week. The junior began the week recording a 3-4 AB with an RBI and three runs scored in the 14-3 victory over New Haven. In the final ECC series of the year against Molloy, Filip notched four hits, two doubles, one home run, and seven RBI as Queens earned a 2-2 series split. 


Pitcher of the Week

John Archer, St. Thomas Aquinas
Graduate Student | Pitcher |  Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.

In his final regular-season start for the Spartans, Archer pitched a complete game against Lincoln, allowing two runs (one unearned) on six hits, while issuing no walks and striking out seven to pick up his fourth victory in nine decisions.


Rookie of the Week

Mihir Manerikar, D’Youville
Freshman | Pitcher | Mississauga, Ontario

Manerikar allowed two runs on only two hits while striking out two across five innings to record the win in D'Youville's 7-4 victory over Mercy on Saturday.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Chris Auclair, D’Youville
Junior | Pitcher | Baldwinsville, N.Y.

Auclair went six innings in D'Youville's 3-1 win over Mercy on Friday, allowing just one unearned run on four hits and striking out five while allowing just one walk. Auclair has now thrown 17 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.

Jaden Caballero, Mercy
Junior | Outfielder | Newburgh, N.Y.

Caballero hit a team-high .529 (9-for-17) with a team-high five RBI, four runs, two doubles, and one home run in four games. The junior went 4-for-8 with an RBI in the doubleheader against D'Youville on Friday. The outfielder then went 2-for-5 with four RBI and a home run against the Saints on Saturday. Caballero ended the week going 3-for-4 with two runs in Mercy's win over the Saints on Sunday. 

Jake Hollins, D’Youville
Sophomore | Outfield | Orchard Park, N.Y.

Hollins went 7-for-15 (.467) with three doubles, a triple, and three RBI in four games against Mercy this weekend. In Friday's 8-5 win, Hollins went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored.

Ryan Hynes, Molloy
Senior | Pitcher | Stony Brook, N.Y.

Hynes tossed a complete game Saturday afternoon to pick up the victory against Queens. The lefty pitched seven innings allowing two runs and four hits while striking out five and allowing just one walk to improve to 9-1 on the campaign.

Jorsixt Jimenez, Queens
Sophomore | Outfielder | Flushing, N.Y.

Jimenez put together another stellar week batting .471, SLG % of .588, and OB % of .526 notching a team-high eight hits, two doubles, three RBI, four runs scored, two walks, and 10 total bases. The sophomore notched a five-game hitting streak with two multi-hit games. In the final ECC series game of the year against Molloy Jimenez went 2-4 AB with a double notching his team-leading 20th double and 22nd multi-hit game of the year with a run scored as Queens earned a series split Sunday. 

John Nisco, Mercy
Sophomore | Outfielder | Tarrytown, N.Y.

Nisco hit .412 (7-for-17) with three RBI, three runs, one double and one triple in four games. The sophomore went 4-for-8 with a run in the doubleheader against the Saints on Friday. The outfielder ended the week going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs in the win over D'Youville on Sunday. 

Hunter Nowak, D’Youville
Sophomore | Catcher/Infielder | Hamburg, N.Y.

Nowak went 7-for-13 (.538) with a double, three walks, and two RBI in four games against Mercy this weekend. In Friday's 3-1 win, Nowak hit the go-ahead double in the top of the ninth. He tallied a hit in all four games and recorded two multi-hit games.

Chris Polemeni, Staten Island
Sophomore | Outfielder/Pitcher | Staten Island, N.Y.

Polemeni hit .429 (6-for-14) in non-conference action this week as he helped lead the Dolphins to a 3-1 record.  Of his six hits, three went for extra bases including two doubles and a home run.  He scored seven runs, drove in four, and broke the CSI program record for stolen bases in a season with his 28th earlier this week.  He was not caught stealing all season and finished the year leading the Dolphins in nearly every offensive category. 

Nevin Scaperotti, Mercy
Freshman | Pitcher/Infielder | Stormville, N.Y.

Scaperotti tossed 8.1 innings with three runs and five hits allowed to go along with seven strikeouts against regionally-ranked D'Youville on Friday. The freshman held the Saints potent offense scoreless until the ninth inning. 

Andrew Speranza, St. Thomas Aquinas
Freshman | Pitcher | Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Speranza gave up two runs on five hits over six innings, while walking five and striking out ten to pick up earn his first victory of the season against Lincoln.
