Indianapolis, Ind. – After capturing its third East Coast Conference Championship in the last four seasons, the Molloy baseball team will host the NCAA East Regional at Mitchel Field as the second-seed for the second time in three years.
The Lions enter the big dance after winning three straight games to clinch the ECC title and will take on Northeast-10 Champion and seventh-seeded University of New Haven Chargers Thursday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. in Uniondale. Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Champion and third-seeded Post University and sixth-seeded Goldey-Beacom College round out one half of the East Regional bracket.
Top-seeded Southern New Hampshire will host fourth-seeded Jefferson University and fifth-seeded Franklin Pierce University in Manchester, New Hampshire, with the winners of each section of the bracket set to meet in the Super Regional round next week.
Molloy reaches the NCAA East Regional for the fourth time under Head Coach Joe Fucarino, who has led the Lions to 39 wins on the campaign including a perfect 3-0 mark in the ECC tournament this past weekend. Junior JJ DeVito was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, after hitting .500 while scoring four runs, driving in four, stealing two bases and belting one home run.
