ECC Women's Lacrosse Report - Week Nine

Offensive Player of the Week

Leena Moussa, Mercy
Junior | Attacker | Wantagh, N.Y.

Moussa had a team-high 15 points on a team-high 10 goals with five assists as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The junior opened the week with a career-high nine points on six goals and three assists in Mercy's 17-13 conference win over Molloy on Wednesday. Moussa ended the week with four goals and two assists, recording her 100th career goal, in Mercy's 18-8 conference win over D'Youville on Friday. 


Defensive Player of the Week

Christina Lopreato, Mercy
Senior | Defender | Mahopac, N.Y.

Lopreato anchored Mercy to a pair of ECC wins last week as the Mavericks improve to 4-0 in conference play. The Mercy senior posted a team-high 14 draw controls to go with four ground balls and four caused turnovers alongside just one turnover of her own as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The graduate student opened the week with three caused turnovers, seven draw controls, and two ground balls with zero turnovers in the win over Molloy on Wednesday. Lopreato ended the week with seven draw controls, one caused turnover, and two ground balls in the win over D'Youville on Friday. 


Rookie of the Week

Shannen Calandra, Daemen
Freshman | Attacker | Rome, N.Y.

Calandra dished out a program-record seven assists and netted one goal in Daemen's lone game last week, a 22-2 conference win over District of Columbia. Her seven assists broke the previous record of six set by Casey Decatur during a 23-7 win over UDC last year. Calandra has now totaled a team-high 15 assists on the year.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Dana Bacher, Daemen
Senior | Midfielder | Hamburg, N.Y.

Totaled five goals and one assist in Daemen's lone game last week, a 22-2 win over District of Columbia.

Madison Buck, D’Youville
Sophomore | Attacker | Rochester, N.Y.

Buck helped the Saints go 1-1 on the week, scoring eight goals while adding three assists. Against St. Thomas Aquinas, Buck had a career-high six goals and three assists for nine points.

Hailey Galison, St. Thomas Aquinas
Graduate Student | Defender | Wantagh, N.Y.

Galison tallied three goals on seven shots (five on goal) over two games last week for STAC. The graduate student defender also recorded 12 ground balls, 10 draw controls, and three caused turnovers in that span.

Madison Handley, D’Youville
Sophomore | Attacker | Lancaster, N.Y.

Handley helped the Saints to a 1-1 record on the week, scoring 10 goals on 11 shots on net while adding two assists. During the team's 18-12 win over St. Thomas Aquinas, Handley scored a career-high seven goals, had a career-high two goals, and a career-high nine points.

Leah Hansen, Mercy
Junior | Attacker | Greenlawn, N.Y.

Hansen had eight goals, one assist and nine points as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The junior opened the week with three goals in the Mavericks' win over Molloy on Wednesday. Hansen ended the week with a game-high five goals with one assist in Mercy's win over D'Youville on Friday. Hansen recorded her 100th career goal in the win over the Saints. 

Joanna Mauceri, Molloy
Senior | Midfielder | New Hyde Park, N.Y.

Mauceri led Molloy with eight ground balls, six draw controls, and five caused turnovers while scoring three goals. 

Andrea Mott, Mercy
Sophomore | Attacker | Miller Place, N.Y.

Mott had 10 points on a team-high seven assists to go with three goals and seven ground balls as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The sophomore opened the week with two goals and six ground balls in Mercy's win over Molloy on Wednesday. Mott ended the week with a goal and game-high seven assists in Mercy's win over D'Youville on Friday. 

Lauren Parker, D’Youville
Sophomore | Defender/Midfielder | Syracuse, N.Y.

Parker played an integral role in the Saints going 1-1 on the week, grabbing 12 ground balls while causing six turnovers. Parker had a career-high six ground balls and three caused turnovers against Mercy and then matched those career-highs against St. Thomas Aquinas. Parker also won nine draw controls on the week including seven against St. Thomas Aquinas.

Sophia Podszebka, Roberts Wesleyan
Senior | Midfielder | Churchville, N.Y.

Sophia Podszebka made a major impact on the offense and defense for the Redhawks. The senior had 16 draw controls and three caused turnovers in a 22-0 win over Ursuline on Sunday. Podszebka also scored three goals and had two assists on the day. 

Lucy Rugaber, Roberts Wesleyan
Graduate Student | Attacker | Penfield, N.Y.

Lucy Rugaber had eight points in a 22-0 win over Ursuline on Sunday. Rugaber helped organize the offense with her seven assists to go along with one goal. 

Megan Rugulo, Molloy
Senior | Attacker | Oceanside, N.Y.

Rugolo led the Lions on the week with seven points on five goals and two assists. The junior also added five draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls.
