ECC Softball Report - Week Eight

Player of the Week

Samantha Franck, Mercy
Graduate Student | First Base | La Habra Heights, Calif.

Franck hit .571 (8-for-14) with a team-high six home runs, 12 RBI, and six runs scored as Mercy went 3-1 on the week. The graduate student opened the week going 2-for-3 with four RBI and a home run in Mercy's game one win over Staten Island on Friday. The first baseman then went 3-for-5 with two home runs and two RBI, hitting a walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth to give Mercy a 12-11 win. Franck then went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a home run in the Mavericks' game one loss to Dominican on Sunday. The graduate student ended the week going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two home runs in Mercy's 8-2 win over Dominican in game two. 


Pitcher of the Week

Sarah Clancy, St. Thomas Aquinas
Senior | Pitcher | Chino Hills, Calif. 

Clancy went 2-1 on the week with a save for the Spartans, posting a 2.67 ERA in 21 innings pitched with 19 total strikeouts. The senior lefty recorded 10 strikeouts in a 7-3 win over CSI and notched a save in a 4-2 win over New Haven. Clancy now leads the ECC in saves with 3 on the season.


Rookie of the Week

Olivia Wanser, Staten Island
Freshman | Catcher/First Base | Westbury, N.Y. 

Wanser hit .500 (10-for-20) for the week while slugging at .750 with an on-base percentage of .545.  Of her ten hits, three went for extra bases including two doubles and a home run. Her eight RBI increased her team-leading total to 27, a total which is also good for third in the conference.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Alex Burns, Molloy
Graduate Student | Outfield | Baldwin, N.Y.

Burns tallied a .615 average this week for the Lions this week, recording at least one hit in each of Molloy's four contests. The graduate student drove in a total of five runs in a 5-for-7 day at the plate in conference against D'Youville before tallying three hits against #22 Wilmington to end the week. 

Caylea Campbell, Queens
Freshman | Utility | Murrieta, Calif.

Freshman Utility Caylea Campbell recorded an undefeated 2-0 week in the circle pitching 14 innings of work allowing 15 hits, four earned runs, and six walks while striking out 12 batters with opponents batting .259 against her in the circle. In the ECC victory over D’Youville Campbell limited the Saints to seven hits, two earned runs to go with three walks, and struck four batters as the rookie helped the Knights pick up their fourth ECC victory over the year Saturday afternoon. In the non-conference victory over Felician Sunday Campbell limited the Felician bats to eight hits, two earned runs to go with three walks, and struck out eight batters as Campbell picked up her team-leading seventh victory of the year. 

Offensively Campbell recorded three hits, one double, four RBI, one run scored, and one walk. In the game one victory over DYU Campbell went 1-3 AB with a double (team-leading seventh), RBI, walk and a run scored as Queens earned a 9-4 victory. In the extra inning loss to Felician Campbell went 1-5 AB with two RBI as the rookie recorded team-leading 16th and 17th RBI of the year. 

Tara Hagan, St. Thomas Aquinas
Senior | Infielder | New City, N.Y.

Hagan batted .450 (9-for-20) with three doubles over six games last week for the Spartans. The senior first baseman drove in six runs and scored twice, while also being walked once. Hagan is currently on an 11-game hit streak.

Sarah Parzych, D’Youville
Junior | Pitcher | Getzville, N.Y.

Parzych threw the full eight inning shutout against Queens getting the win. Parzych only allowed four hits and recorded a season-high nine strikeouts.

Emily Przybysz, D’Youville
Junior | Outfielder | Hamburg, N.Y.

Przybysz hit .364 on the weekend, scoring five of the Saints’ runs over the weekend - four of which were against Queens. The junior scored the winning run against Queens in their 1-0 win in game two on Saturday. Przybysz also had five stolen bases on the weekend putting her at 38 career SBs which now puts her as the all-time leader in career stolen bases at D'Youville.

Eliana Raposo, St. Thomas Aquinas
Sophomore | Pitcher/Outfield | Wareham, Mass.

Raposo hit .300 (6-for-20) with a double and a triple on the week for the Spartans. The senior pitcher/outfielder drove in eight runs and scored another five. In the circle the righty compiled a 2-1 record with a 3.32 era and 11 strikeouts in 19 innings pitched. Raposo now leads the ECC in wins with 10.

Mackayla Secoda, Mercy
Sophomore | Pitcher | Lansdale, Pa.

Secoda went 2-0 in the circle with a team-best 4.08 ERA in a team-high 12.0 innings and four appearances with nine strikeouts. The sophomore opened the week pitching a scoreless inning of relief to earn the win in Mercy's game one win over Staten Island on Friday. The pitcher then pitched a scoreless inning of relief in game one against Dominican on Sunday. Secoda ended the week pitching a complete game with just one earned run allowed and six strikeouts to earn the win in Mercy's game two win over Dominican on Sunday. 

Shannon Sisco, Mercy
Senior | Outfielder | Cicero, N.Y.

Sisco hit a team-high .714 (10-for-14) with five runs, three stolen bases, two doubles and one triple as Mercy went 3-1 on the week. The outfielder opened the week going a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, two doubles and a triple in Mercy's game one win over Staten Island on Friday. The senior then went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Mercy's game two win over Staten Island. Sisco then went 1-for-2 with a stolen base in game one against Dominican on Sunday, setting a school record for career stolen bases. The outfielder ended the week going 2-for-3 in Mercy's game two win over Dominican.
