ECC Baseball Report - Week 10

Co-Player of the Week

Alfred Hoti, Mercy
Junior | Catcher | New York, N.Y.

Hoti led Mercy to a 4-0 sweep over Lincoln in conference play. The Mercy junior catcher hit a team-high .533 (8-for-15) and slugged at a clip of .800 with a team-high seven runs, seven RBI and four doubles. The junior recorded an RBI and a run in Mercy's win over Lincoln on Friday. The catcher then went 4-for-5 with four runs and four RBI in the sweep of Lincoln on Saturday. Hoti ended the week going 4-for-6 with two RBI and two runs in the win over Lincoln on Sunday. 


Co-Player of the Week

Phil Krpata, Queens
Graduate Student | Centerfield | Farmingdale, N.Y.

Krpata led Queens to a 4-0 series sweep over STAC in conference play. Krpata broke out the bat as he batted a team-high .556, SLG % of .556, and OB% of .600 as he notched 10 hits, four RBI, two walks, seven runs scored, and three stolen bases. The Farmingdale native recorded a hit in all four games as he hit for the “cycle” with three multi-hit games. In the 4-3, extra-inning marathon victory, the centerfielder notched two hits with a RBI and scored the game-winning run before notching three hits, RBI, and one run scored in the 13-5 game two victory. 

In game three of the series, Krpata earned a walk to open the top of the seventh before scoring the game-winning run as Queens clinched their fourth ECC series of the year with a 5-2 victory. He would complete the series with his first four-hit performance of the year in the Knights’ 13-2 ECC clinching sweep game as he recorded two RBI and three runs scored. 


Pitcher of the Week

Nevin Scaperotti, Mercy
Freshman | Pitcher/Infielder | Stormville, N.Y.

Scaperotti tossed his first career complete game with one earned run and four hits allowed to go with eight strikeouts in Mercy's 4-2 conference win over Lincoln on Friday.


Rookie of the Week

Michael Vilardi, Queens
Freshman | Outfielder/Pitcher | Massapequa, N.Y.

In the ECC series sweep over STAC, Vilardi would deliver on both ends of the game as he recorded five hits, three RBI, and two runs scored with two multi-hit games and matched a career-best seven innings of work on the mound allowing six hits, one earned run, no walks and a career-best nine strikeouts to complete the series sweep. 

In the 4-3 extra inning walk-off victory Friday afternoon and the Knights trailing 3-2 heading into the bottom of the eighth Vilardi would deliver a RBI single to tie the game before Queens earned the extra-inning victory in 11 innings. He would record his second straight multi-hit game in the 13-5 victory with two hits, and a RBI Saturday afternoon. On Sunday he would make his first appearance as a DH and starting pitcher and would produce on both ends of the field. The Massapequa native helped his own with a hit and RBI before delivering on the mound as he matched a career-best effort of seven innings of work with three clean innings of work, one earned run, and nine strikeouts to earn his team-leading fifth victory of the year.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Alec Boucher, D’Youville
Junior | Infielder | Essex, Ontario

Boucher went 9-for-12 on the weekend with a .667 AVG. Boucher recorded a home run, two doubles, three triples, 11 RBI, six runs scored, four walks, and a stolen base. The junior went 4-for-4 with a double, home run, and five RBI in the 16-11 win over CSI on Friday. Boucher followed it up going 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI in the Saints’ 14-4 win over CSI on Saturday. 

Jaden Caballero, Mercy
Junior | Outfielder | Newburgh, N.Y.

Caballero hit .474 (9-for-19) with four runs, seven RBI and five stolen bases as Mercy went 4-0 on the week. The junior opened the week going 1-for-4 in the win over Lincoln on Friday. The outfielder then went 5-for-10 with five RBI and two runs in the sweep of Lincoln on Saturday. Caballero ended the week going 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs in the win over Lincoln on Sunday. 

Caleb Cassie, Queens
Junior | Pitcher | Vancouver, British Columbia

In the Knights’ 4-3 walk-off victory in 11 innings over St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday afternoon, Cassie delivered with a career-best eight innings of work allowing five hits, three earned runs, one walk, and a career-best 10 strikeouts on 111 pitches. The junior would allow a run in the second and two in the third before going on to produce five straight shutout innings of work. From the fourth inning to the eighth inning, the Vancouver native would allow just one hit while he worked four clean innings of work, which included striking out the side in the seventh and eighth inning of play.

Marc Cisco, Queens
Junior | Second Base | Long Island City, N.Y.

In the ECC series sweep over STAC, Cisco batted .500, SLG % of .667, and OB % of .571 as he recorded nine hits, three doubles, five RBI, two walks, three runs scored, and two multi-hit games to go with a four-game hitting streak. In the Saturday DH sweep the junior went 7-10 at the plate notching three RBI, two doubles, and two runs scored. In the 13-5 victory, Cisco recorded 3-6 AB with a double, and two runs scored before he went perfect at the plate in the 5-2 series clinching game as he went 4-4 AB with a double, and three RBI to lead the offense. He would complete the series with a two-RBI double and a walk as Queens completed the ECC series sweep.

Charlie Cucchiara, Molloy
Graduate Student | Pitcher | East Meadow, N.Y. 

Cucchiara took the hill for game one against Holy Family on Saturday. The right-hander pitched six innings allowing two runs, on four hits, and struck out eight to improve to 8-0 on the campaign. 

Kyle DeCresce, St. Thomas Aquinas
Sophomore | Designated Hitter | Burnt Hills, N.Y.

DeCresce hit .458 (11-for-24) with two doubles and a home run over six games last week for the Spartans. The sophomore designated hitter drove in nine runs and scored another two runs.

Alex Dzimian, D’Youville
Senior | Infielder/Pitcher | Lakeview, N.Y.

Dzimian threw 6.0 complete innings on the mound for the Saints and recorded three strikeouts while only allowing one hit and no earned runs in the 8-4 win over Staten Island on Sunday.

Bobby LeFevre, St. Thomas Aquinas
Redshirt Freshman | Pitcher | Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

LeFevre made two appearances on the week for STAC, going 1-0 with a win out of the bullpen over D'Youville. The redshirt freshman righty allowed only three hits and an unearned run, while walking only one and fanning 10 opposing hitters over eight total innings pitched.

Anthony Manisero, Molloy
Senior | Outfield | Staten Island, N.Y.

Manisero was red hot at the plate in a 3-0 week for the Lions. The senior kicked off the week hitting for the cycle against Caldwell, going a perfect 4-for-4  at the plate, driving in four runs, and scoring three times. The right-fielder then hit a home run in his third consecutive game on Saturday against Holy Family. To cap the week, Manisero hit .667 (6-for-9), drove in six runs, scored four times, and belted two home runs.

Jon Simpson, D’Youville
Sophomore | First Baseman | Grand Island, N.Y.

Simpson went 6-for-13 with a .478 batting average and a 1.000 slugging %. The sophomore recorded 2 home runs, seven RBI, six walks, and seven runs scored. On Friday, the sophomore went 3-for-4 with two home runs and 2 RBI in the 16-11 win over Staten Island.
