ECC Men’s Soccer Weekly Report – October 5

Players of the Week
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Omar Daoudi (D'Youville)
Jr., F, South Burlington, Vt., South Burlington
Daoudi had a standout week for the Saints recording three goals in three shots on goal. The Junior recorded the first goal for the Saints on Wednesday to tie the game before scoring the go-ahead goal for his second in the 3-1 win. Daoudi then came up big for the Saints to tie the game at 2-2 in the 84th minute against STAC on Saturday.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Philip Hauge (Mercy)
Jr., D, Bergen, Norway, St. Paul Vidergaende/Central Connecticut State University
Hauge helped lead a Mercy backline that did not surrender a goal during the minutes he played. The junior opened the week playing the first half of the Mavericks' 3-2 win over Saint Anselm. Mercy was up 2-0 at halftime before Hauge was subbed out to rest. The junior helped lead a Maverick defense that posted a shutout in the Mavericks' 4-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Sean Green (Mercy)
Gr., GK, Asheville, N.C., Lees-McRae College
Green went 1-0 in goal with seven saves, a 1.000 save percentage and 0.00 goals-against average in 135 minutes of action across two games. The graduate student opened the week with a save in the first half of Mercy's win over Saint Anselm on Tuesday and ended the week with a game-high six saves to earn the shutout win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday.
 
Rookie of the Week
Dylan Meadows (Staten Island)
Fr., F, Brooklyn, NY, Fort Hamilton High School
In the lone contest of the week, Meadows notched an assist against Daemen to aid in the Dolphins ECC victory. He also recorded two shots, each of them on target.
 
 
Weekly Honor Roll
 
Koray Arslan (Staten Island)
Jr., M/D, Brooklyn, NY, James Madison HS
Arslan a recorded three points against Daemen in a 5-2 victory. She scored a goal and an assist, logging two shots.
 
Peterson Larose (Staten Island)
Jr., M/D, Brooklyn, NY, Abraham Lincoln HS
Larose lifted the Dolphins to victory against Daemen on Saturday when he notched the game winning goal in the second half. The junior recorded two assists in the first two goals of the day for the Dolphins (which occurred within a minute of each other) to tally four points in the afternoon for the ECC win.
 
Jacob Darwesh Lund-Iversen (Mercy)
Sr., F, Oslo, Norway, Maryville University
Lund-Iversen scored a goal and dished out an assist in Mercy's 4-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday.
 
Joel Martinez (Mercy)
Jr., M, Madrid, Spain, Mount Aloysius College
Martinez had a team-high two goals and four points on the week as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The junior opened the week scoring a goal in Mercy's 3-2 win over Saint Anselm on Tuesday. Martinez ended the week scoring the game-winning goal in the Mavericks' 4-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday.
 
Noah Gronvold Roe (Queens)
Jr., D, Asker, Norway, West Virginia Wesleyan College
Junior Noah Gronvold Roe paced the Knights with a team-best three points on the week, recording one goal and one assist. Mounting a late rally against nationally-ranked No. 18 Franklin Pierce, Gronvold Roe scored his second goal of the season in the 87th minute. On Saturday, the junior recorded his third assist of the season, helping Queens secure a 3-0 victory over UDC for its second East Coast Conference victory of the season.
 
Yair Roman (Staten Island)
So., M/D, Staten Island, NY, Curtis HS
Roman finished tied for first on the team with four points against Daemen in a 5-2 win. Roman notched two goals on Saturday on three shots.
 
Tommy Wagner (Queens)
Gr., D, East Northport, N.Y., Commack High School
Defender Tommy Wagner recorded his second goal of the season and second game-winning goal of the year in the Knights’ 3-0 victory over UDC Saturday afternoon. Wagner converted from the penalty spot in the sixth minute to give Queens an early lead before helping anchor a defensive effort that limited the Firebirds to just three shots and one shot on goal.

Founded as the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference in 1989 and rechristened the East Coast Conference in July 2006, the ECC was formed to enhance intercollegiate athletic competition among member institutions and to assist them in integrating athletics into their academic program in a fiscally sound way. The ECC is committed to the highest standards of scholarship, sportsmanship, teamwork, and citizenship. Its mission is to promote the total person concept in its student-athletes, which stresses the abilities to excel in academic achievement, athletic competition, and positive character traits. East Coast Conference members include: Daemen University (Amherst, N.Y.); University of the District of Columbia (Washington, D.C.); D'Youville University (Buffalo, N.Y.); Mercy University (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.); Molloy University (Rockville Centre, N.Y.); Queens College (Flushing, N.Y.); Roberts Wesleyan University (Rochester, N.Y.); College of Staten Island (Staten Island, N.Y.); and St. Thomas Aquinas College (Sparkill, N.Y.). The ECC also is home to 13 associate members in the sports of women’s bowling (3), men’s and women’s indoor track & field (3), men's volleyball (2), field hockey (1), and men’s lacrosse (1).

The ECC sponsors the following championship sports: baseball; men’s and women’s basketball; women's bowling; men’s and women’s cross country; field hockey; men’s and women’s lacrosse; men’s and women’s indoor track and field; men’s and women’s outdoor track and field; men’s and women’s soccer; softball; and men's and women’s volleyball.
 
The East Coast Conference is a proud member of the NCAA and Division II.
