INDIANAPOLIS, IN. -- Daemen University Vice President for Athletics Traci Murphy has been appointed to the NCAA Division II Management Council, the organization announced on Wednesday. Murphy will be representing the East Coast Conference within the committee, and her term will begin in January of 2027.
Comprised of 27 members with one member from all voting, multisport Division II conference along with four at-large members and two members from the Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), the Management Council reports directly to the Executive Board and is charged with recommending administrative policy and regulations that govern the division. The council also adopts noncontroversial and intent-based amendments, administrative bylaws and regulations to govern Division II. Additionally, the council is authorized to sponsor legislative proposals for a vote at the annual NCAA Convention; take final action on matters delegated to it by the Executive Board; and review and act on the recommendations of the Division II committee structure and the recommendations of committees with Association-wide functions.
"I am deeply honored and excited to be appointed to the NCAA Division II Management Council. Serving on this council is a significant responsibility, and I am fully dedicated to representing Daemen University, the East Coast Conference, and the broader Division II membership with integrity and passion," Traci Murphy said.
"This appointment offers a vital opportunity to actively engage in our governance structure, contribute to the strategic growth of the division, and champion the core values of the Division II identity and its strategic priorities. I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues across the country to shape a future direction that keeps student-athlete well-being, success and the overall collegiate experience at the heart of everything we do."
Murphy has been the Director of Athletics at Daemen since August 2018, and earned the promotion of Vice President for Athletics in May 2024. No stranger to serving as a leader at both the conference and national levels, Murphy's appointment to the NCAA Division II Management Council is the latest in a series of recent national positions. Murphy finished serving term as the President of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Division II Athletic Directors Association in 2026, as well as a member of the NCAA Division II Implementation Committee. Murphy is the past president of the East Coast Conference Athletic Directors Council Executive Board, and was named the NACDA Division II Athletic Director of the Year following the 2024-25 school year and was also named a 2025 Buffalo Business First Woman of Influence.
