ECC Softball Report - Week Nine

Player of the Week

Natalie Moussa, Molloy
Senior | P | Chino Hills, CA

Moussa went 2-0 in the circle with a 2.80 ERA and hit .304 with seven hits, including two doubles and two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs scored. The Molloy senior launched a three-run home run in the 9-1 win against Queens in Game 2, while also tossing a complete game without allowing an earned run. In Game 1 of the doubleheader against Bridgeport, Moussa led the offense going 2-for-3 with a two-run home run. In the doubleheader against CSI, she went 4-for-8 at the plate with two doubles and one RBI. In Game 2, Moussa tossed another complete game, striking out two.


Pitcher of the Week

Sarah Clancy, St. Thomas Aquinas
Graduate Student | LHP | Chino Hills, CA

Clancy registered a 2-0 record on the week with an impressive 0.58 ERA. The St. Thomas Aquinas left-hander tossed a five-hit shutout in a 3-0 victory over D'Youville on Friday after scattering just six hits and striking out five in the 14-1 win over Mercy on Tuesday. 


Rookie of the Week

Lauren McSweeney, Mercy
Freshman | P | Islip, NY

McSweeney threw a complete game, one-hit shutout with three strikeouts and just one walk allowed to earn the 4-0 win in Game 2 against D'Youville. The Saints had entered the game as the top-hitting team in the ECC, but McSweeney held them with 10 ground outs and eight fly outs to accompany her three Ks on the day. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Skylar Brandemarte, Mercy
Senior | P | Poughkeepsie, NY

Brandemarte went 2-1 in the circle with a 1.67 ERA in 21.0 innings with 10 strikeouts and three complete games. The senior opened the week allowing three earned runs in the loss against first-place STAC on Tuesday. The Mercy pitcher then allowed one earned run with six strikeouts to earn the win in Game 1 at Queens on Thursday. Brandemarte ended the week allowing one run with four strikeouts to earn the win in game one over D'Youville on Saturday. The senior recorded her 300th career strikeout in the win.

Stevie Dabbadie, Molloy
Sophomore | P/1B | Burbank, CA

Dabbadie went 2-2 this past week with a 1.83 ERA, one shutout, and nine strikeouts while allowing just six earned runs. She recorded her second complete-game shutout of the season, and the third of her career, in Game 1 against Queens. Dabbadie followed that performance with six strikeouts over six innings of work against Bridgeport and added two more strikeouts in Game 1 against CSI.

Sofia Marella, St. Thomas Aquinas
Freshman | DP | Cranston, RI

Marella homered twice in a 14-1 win over Mercy. The freshman designated player finished the week with a .333 batting average (3-for-10) and six RBI.

Averi Miller, Mercy
Sophomore | SS | Las Vegas, NV

Miller hit .353 (6-for-17) with three runs, one RBI, and a team-high four doubles as Mercy went 3-3 on the week. The sophomore went 4-for-6 with a run and an RBI in the split at Queens on Thursday before ending the week going 2-for-3 with two runs in the Game 1 win over D'Youville on Saturday. 

Eliana Raposo, St. Thomas Aquinas
Junior | P/UTL | Wareham, MA

Raposo led STAC to a 4-0 record on the week by hitting .538 (7-for-13) with a double and home run with seven runs scored and three RBI. In the 9-3 win over D'Youville, the junior centerfielder broke the STAC program record for career runs scored with 123 in her three-year career.

Dylan Reyer, Mercy
Sophomore | OF | Baldwin, NY

Reyer hit a team-high .538 (7-for-13) with three runs, two RBI, a double and a triple as Mercy went 3-3 on the week. The sophomore opened the week going 1-for-2 against STAC on Tuesday before going 2-for-6 in the split at Queens on Thursday. The Mercy outfielder then went 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs in the Game 1 win over D'Youville on Saturday. Reyer ended the week going 1-for-2 with a run in the game 2 win over D'Youville.
