ECC Baseball Report - Week Three

Player of the Week

Sean Welsh, Molloy
Junior | 3B | East Meadow, NY

Welsh had himself a career week for the Lions. On the week, Welsh hit .550 (11-for-20), drove in seven runs, scored six times, stole six bases, hit two home runs, and slugged .850 while collecting his first save of the season. In Molloy's win over Caldwell on Tuesday, the junior totaled three hits, three stolen bases, and two runs scored while securing his first save of the season. Against Bentley, the third basemen hit a two-run home run, scored twice, and stole one base. In the contest against Lynn, the junior continued to stay hot, totaling four hits including a home run, three RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases. To end the week against New Haven, Welsh added another three hits and drove in two runs. 


Pitcher of the Week

James Sill, Molloy
Sophomore | 1B/P | Levittown, NY

Sill got the start on Sunday against New Haven, scattering just four hits across seven innings while allowing no earned runs and totaling six strikeouts in the no-decision.


Rookie of the Week

Ty Graczyk, D’Youville
Freshman | LHP | Buffalo, NY

Graczyk turned in another solid start for the Saints on Saturday, scattering four hits in 5.0 innings of work and allowing just three runs in DYU's 7-6 win over Goldey-Beacom.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Zach Ashline, Mercy
Junior | DH | Colonie, NY

Ashline hit .353 (6-for-17) with a team-high-tying three RBI to go with two stolen bases, one double and one run as Mercy went 1-4 on the week. The junior opened the week going 2-for-4 against Southern Connecticut State on Tuesday. The designated hitter then went 1-for-4 in game one against #7 West Chester on Saturday before going 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored in Mercy's win over West Chester in game two. 

Chris Auclair, D’Youville
Senior | LHP | Baldwinsville, NY

Auclair struck out a season-high seven batters in 5.1 innings while allowing three earned runs on six hits and three walks against Goldey-Beacom on Friday.

Dillon Crook, D’Youville
Senior | OF | Liverpool, NY

Crook went 5-for-15 with a double, two RBI, and a run scored in the Saints' four-game set with Goldey-Beacom this weekend. He came up clutch in DYU's 7-6 win on Saturday, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. In the 6th inning, he tied the game at 3-3 with an RBI double and in the 7th inning he hit an RBI single that proved to be the game-winning hit.

Chris Ewing, St. Thomas Aquinas
Senior | SS | New York, NY

Batting leadoff, Ewing compiled a .467 average with seven hits in 15 at-bats, including two doubles and a triple. The senior shortstop also scored two runs and drove in seven more for the Spartans. He was also issued drew three walks.

Peyton Jemison, Mercy
Sophomore | 3B | Monroe, NY

Jemison hit .333 (6-for-18) with a team-high-tying three RBI to go with a team-high-tying three runs, two stolen bases and a team-high three doubles as Mercy went 1-4 on the week. The sophomore went 4-for-7 with two RBI and three runs scored in Mercy's split with #7 West Chester on Saturday. The third baseman ended the week going 2-for-7 with an RBI in a doubleheader at Pace on Sunday. 

Aidan Larkin, Molloy
Graduate Student | 2B | Huntington, NY

Hitting in the three spot, Larkin found his way around the basepath. In Molloy's win over Caldwell, Larkin collected three hits and two RBI. Against Bentley, the graduate student totaled five hits in six at bats, scored three times, and collected an RBI. At Lynn, the second basemen added an additional two hits while driving in one run. To cap the week, Larkin hit .579 (11-for-19), scored five times, drove in four runs, walked twice and stole two bases. The graduate student has now totaled a hit in his last eight games.

Billy Morris, D’Youville
Junior | INF/RHP | Lancaster, NY

Morris went 8-for-18 with two home runs, two doubles, and four RBI in D'Youville's series with Goldey-Beacom this weekend. He collected two hits in each of the four games. On Saturday, Morris went 2-for-5 with a home run, an RBI, and a run scored in the first game of the doubleheader and homered again in the second game of the doubleheader, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. He also started on the mound for the Saints in game two of the doubleheader, tossing 4.1 innings with three strikeouts. 

Penn Sealey, Queens
Graduate Student | 3B | Raleigh, NC

In their lone game of the week against Caldwell, Sealey paced the Knights' offense recording a 2-3 AB performance with a double, home run, walk, and a team-high three RBI and three runs scored. Sealey recorded his third multi-hit game, and team-tying third multi-RBI performance of the year.
