ECC Baseball Report - Week Two

Player of the Week

Nicholas Dagnello, Molloy
Senior | 1B | Nesconset, NY

Dagnello was scorching hot at the plate this week in No. 22/26 Molloy's three-game series against Felician, where he helped sweep Saturday's doubleheader. In game one on Saturday, Dagnello went 3-for-4 at the plate, scored four runs, tallied a double, and walked twice (once intentionally) in the come-from-behind, 12-7 victory. As an encore in game two, the senior hit for the cycle, driving in a run in each leg of the cycle. The senior hit a solo home run, drove in a run with a single, cleared the bases with a three-RBI triple, and completed the cycle with a two-run double on his way to driving in seven of Molloy's nine runs in the 9-4 triumph. On the week, Dagenllo hit .700 (7-for-10), drove in seven runs, scored five times, doubled twice, walked twice, tripled, and homered while slugging 1.400 and getting on base at a .750 clip.


Pitcher of the Week

Chris Auclair, D’Youville
Senior | LHP | Baldwinsville, NY

Auclair tossed his first career complete game shutout on just 88 pitches against Pace University on Saturday. In D'Youville's 7-0 win, Auclair allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out two.


Rookie of the Week

Ty Graczyk, D’Youville
Freshman | LHP | Buffalo, NY

In two starts this week, Graczyk threw 9.1 innings, striking out six. In the Saints' 1-0 win over Pace on Saturday, Graczyk threw six scoreless innings, scattering just four hits while striking out three to notch his first collegiate win.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Leo Alvarez, Queens
Senior | OF | Oceanside, NY

Alvarez recorded a batting average of .750, OB % of .800, and SLG % of 1.500 as he recorded a three-hit game with a home run, four RBI, one walk, and one run scored as Queens earned a thrilling 13-12, comeback victory over regionally-ranked No. 7 Franklin Pierce to earn a 2-2 series split. The senior began his outing recording his first home run of the year as the Knights started to erase a 7-0 deficit before delivering the walk-off single up the middle as Queens earned the comeback victory.

Zach Ashline, Mercy
Junior | DH | Colonie, NY

Ashline hit .714 (5-for-7) with a home run, six RBI, five runs scored and a stolen base in Mercy's sweep of Bloomfield on Sunday. 

Caleb Cassie, Queens
Senior | RHP | Vancouver, British Columbia

Cassie produced another solid outing on the mound, pitching 5.0 innings of work allowing two hits, two earned runs, one walk, and nine strikeouts against regionally ranked No. 7 Franklin Pierce on Friday afternoon. Cassie would lead from the front as he kept the dangerous bats of the Ravens quiet, limiting them to just two hits in the top of the fourth inning. Through five innings of work, Cassie would strike out a batter in each inning, including two or more strikeouts in the first, third, and fifth. In the top of the third, Cassie would strike out the side on 10 pitches. 

Kyle Engmann, Mercy
Sophomore | OF | Shoreham, NY

Engmann hit .571 (4-for-7) with a team-high three home runs and seven RBI to go along with three runs in Mercy's sweep of Bloomfield on Sunday. 

Jake Hollins, D’Youville
Redshirt Junior | OF | Orchard Park, NY

Hollins went 7-for-23 with a walk, a run scored, and four RBI for D'Youville this week. In Saturday's 7-0 win over Pace, Hollins went 2-for-5 with two singles and three RBI. In game one of Monday's doubleheader against East Stroudsburg, he went 3-for-4, tying a career-high in hits, with a run scored.

Jack Kehoe, Staten Island
Freshman | OF | Staten Island, NY

Kehoe hit .333 (4-12) in four games this week and collected three extra base hits. In Saturday's doubleheader against Chestnut Hill, the freshman delivered a pair of two-hit games with five RBI; among those four hits were a double and two home runs.

Aidan Larkin, Molloy
Graduate Student | 2B | Huntington, NY

Larkin provided stability to the Molloy line up in a 2-1 week. The graduate student collected three hits and two-RBI in Molloy's come from behind win over Felician on Saturday. On the week, Larkin hit .412 (5-for-12), scored three times, walked three times and drove in two while getting on base at a .533 clip.

Matthew Manzoeillo, Mercy
Senior | P | Beacon, NY

Manzoeillo pitched 4.0 shutout innings with just one hit allowed and five strikeouts to earn the win in Mercy's game two win over Bloomfield on Sunday.  

Billy Morris, D’Youville
Junior | INF/RHP | Lancaster, NY

In two starts on the mound this week, Morris threw 9.0 innings, allowed five earned runs on 13 hits and three walks, and struck out seven batters. On Sunday against Wilmington, he allowed one earned run on nine hits while striking out five and walking none in 6.2 innings. At the plate, he went 6-for-21 with a double and two RBI. He posted a multi-hit game in the Saints' 7-0 win over Pace on Saturday.

Severino Napolitano, Jr., Queens
Freshman | RHP | Brooklyn, NY

Napolitano, Jr. produced three shutout innings as he held the regionally-ranked No. 7 Franklin Pierce bats hitless in his relief appearance and allowed just one base runner. In three innings, the Brooklyn, NY native struck out the side in the top of the fifth before recording two strikeouts in the sixth and seventh to record a career-best seven strikeouts. 

Nick Piazza, Queens
Junior | SS | Queens, NY

In four games against regionally-ranked No. 7 Franklin Pierce, Piazza recorded a batting average of .417, slugging percentage of .750, and on base percentage of .417 as he totaled five hits, one double, one home run, two RBI, and three runs scored. The junior recorded a four-game hitting streak and one multi-hit game against the Ravens. In the 13-12 comeback victory, the Queens, NY native recorded a multi-hit game, notching two hits, both of them extra-base hits with a double and home run to go with two RBI and two runs scored as Queens earned a 2-2 series split. 

Chris Polemeni, Staten Island
Sophomore | OF | Staten Island, NY

Polemeni hit .429 (6-14) this week with three RBI and five runs scored in four games.  In Saturday's doubleheader against Chestnut Hill, the sophomore went 4-7 with a double and a home run.  He also scored three runs and drove in three more in the two games. Polemeni also reached base three times in Sunday's doubleheader against Caldwell going 2-3 with a walk in game two against the Cougars.

Dylan Schriver, Molloy
Freshman | P | Rising Sun, MD

Schriver came out of the bullpen to pick up his first victory of his collegiate career in No. 22/26 Molloy's 12-7 come-from-behind victory over Felician. In relief, the freshman pitched the final 3.1 innings allowed just one hit and struck out four collecting the final 10 outs in 14 hitters to earn the victory.

James Sill, Molloy
Sophomore | 1B/P | Levittown, NY

Sill moved to 2-0 on the campaign picking up a victory against Felician. The right-hander tossed six innings allowed two hits, one earned run, and struck out six to earn the victory. At the plate the sophomore sat in the heart of the Lions order and connected on his first home run of the season in Saturday's game one victory over Felician. In total at the plate, Sill hit .500 (4-for-8), drove in four runs, scored three times, hit one homer, and doubled once while slugging 1.000 and getting on base at a .600 clip.
