COLONIA, N.J. – The 2025 ECC regular season champion Mercy Mavericks took home three of the five major awards to headline the ECC Women’s Volleyball All-Conference awards, as voted on by the league’s seven head coaches and announced on Thursday afternoon ahead of the start of the 2025 ECC Women’s Volleyball Championship.
Three of the major award winners were selected unanimously, headlined by Mercy senior outside hitter Gabriela Bieniek (Rzeszow, Poland) being voted the ECC Player of the Year. Mercy junior setter Adriana Rivera Rodriguez (Humacao, Puerto Rico) repeated as the ECC Setter of the Year while Molloy senior defensive specialist Aria Miller (Mililani, Hawaii) was selected the ECC Libero of the Year.
Queens freshman setter Kylynn White (Chicago, Ill.) earned ECC Rookie of the Year honors while Mercy head coach Ana Todorovic was voted the ECC Coach of the Year by her peers.
Bieniek led the ECC in total points and points per set (395, 5.00) and total kills and kills per set (333, 4.22), which both ranked in the top 15 of NCAA Division II. The ECC Player of the Year played all 79 sets for Mercy this fall and added a team-leading 45 service aces with 151 digs and 26 blocks. Against ECC competition, Bieniek topped the conference in points per set (197.5, 4.82) and ranked second in kills (163) and service aces (25). Bieniek totaled double-digit kills in 21 of 22 matches to lead the Mavericks to an 18-4 overall record and 11-1 mark in league play en route to Mercy’s first ECC Regular Season Championship since 2001.
A five-time ECC Setter of the Week this fall, Rivera Rodriguez repeats as the ECC Setter of the Year after topping the ECC in total assists and assists per set (730, 9.24). The Mercy junior played all 79 sets for Mercy this fall and added 52 kills and 29 service aces with 205 digs and 38 blocks. Against ECC competition, Rivera Rodriguez topped the conference in assists per set (9.15) and ranked second in total assists (375). Rivera Rodriguez totaled 30+ assists in 15 of 22 matches to help pace the Mavericks to an 18-4 overall record and 11-1 mark in league play en route to Mercy’s first ECC Regular Season Championship since 2001.
ECC Libero of the Year Miller led the conference in digs and digs per set (372, 4.23) for the Lions (17-8), who finished second in the ECC regular season with a conference mark of 10-2. Against ECC competition, Miller topped the conference in digs and digs per set (181, 4.11). The Molloy senior totaled double-digit digs in 18 of 25 matches for the Lions.
Nowhere near to playing like a college newcomer this fall, Queens’ White was tabbed the ECC Rookie of the Year after dropping an ECC-leading five triple-doubles, which ranks third across all of NCAA Division II. White also topped the conference and ranked 10th in NCAA Division II with 58 service aces while sitting second in the ECC in points (377.5), third in kills (296) and total attacks (198), fifth in hitting percentage (25.0), and sixth in points per set (3.56) and assists (415). White was a five-time ECC Rookie of the Week and two-time ECC Player of the Week during the regular season.
Todorovic earned the first ECC Coach of the Year honor of her career in a vote by her peers after leading the Mavericks to an 11-1 conference mark and the ECC Regular Season Championship for the first time since 2001. In her fourth year at the helm, Todorovic led Mercy to an 18-4 overall mark, the most wins for the program since 2005 (20). Todorovic has also guided the Mavericks to the No. 1 seed in this weekend’s ECC Women’s Volleyball Championship and the No. 3 spot in the latest NCAA East Region Rankings.
