ECC Women's Bowling Report - Week Two

Bowler of the Week

Megan Kapsiak, D’Youville
Senior | Lancaster, NY

Kapsiak finished second overall at the Grapevine Classic this past weekend. The senior finished with a 209 average after bowling a 215, 212, 177, 222, and 220 on Saturday. Kapsiak was named to the all-tournament team.


Rookie of the Week

Isabella Hopper, Kutztown
Freshman | Mifflinville, PA

In Hopper’s first collegiate tournament, the season-opening Bud Whitman Memorial, she finished tied for 16th individually with a 173.8 five-game average and a high score of 213. She was the third-best rookie bowler in the field and played a crucial role in leading the Golden Bears to a perfect 5-0 record in the one-day event. Her team-best 213 pinfall in the fifth game was instrumental in securing a 923-900 victory over No. 17 FDU. Additionally, she contributed significantly to Kutztown’s wins in game two against Caldwell with 177 pins and game four against Dominican (N.Y.) with 163 pins.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Madison Brenneman, Kutztown
Senior | York, PA

Madison Brenneman started off her senior campaign with a ninth-place showing at the season-opening Bud Whitman Memorial tournament on Saturday, rolling a 182.8 average in five games with a day-high of 210. She maintained a steady performance to help the Golden Bears to a 5-0 record on the weekend, playing a huge role in both of the team’s wins over ranked opponents. Madison opened the day with a team-high 177 in KU’s two-point win over Coppin State and rolled another team-high 210 in Kutztown’s 849-821 win over Dominican (N.Y.) before finishing with a 182 in the victory over No. 17 FDU.

Mackenzie Hutchins, Daemen
Senior | Wheatfield, NY

Hutchins led the Wildcats at the Grapevine Classic, placing sixth out of 47 bowlers during the traditional matches on Saturday. She posted an average of 198.20 with scores of 233 (team-high), 222, 173, 183, and 180. She was named to the All-Tournament team. Her efforts helped Daemen earn wins over Hilbert and Pitt-Bradford.  

Shelby Wunch, Kutztown
Senior | Easton, MD

Shelby Wunch led the Golden Bears to a perfect 5-0 weekend, securing crucial victories over No. 17 FDU (923-900) and No. 22 Felician (824-791). She earned All-Tournament honors at the Bud Whitman Memorial tournament, finishing fourth with a five-game average of 190, including a high of 211 against FDU. Additionally, she achieved a 201 to defeat Dominican (N.Y.), 849-821, and recorded a team-high 185 against Felician and 188 in the second game against Caldwell.
