ECC Women's Volleyball Report - Week Four

Player of the Week

Kiarra Roth, Molloy
Graduate Student | Outside Hitter | Bohemia, NY

Roth was an attacking force for the Lions this week, topping 20 kills in both wins. The senior had 21 kills to go with nine digs, two aces, and two blocks against Pace to start the week. Opening league play against Roberts Wesleyan, the outside hitter set a career-high 27 kills, attacking at a .353 clip, while putting up six blocks, six digs, and three assists. On the week, Roth averaged 5.33 kills per set and attacked at a .285 percentage. 


Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Jonaida Donowa, Queens
Freshman | Middle Blocker | Porter, TX

Donowa recorded a 31.0 point week notching 19 kills, 12 blocks (an ECC-week high), nine digs, and five service aces as Queens went 3-0 on the week. In their two sweeps over CACC members Holy Family and Georgian Court, the rookie notched nine kills, five blocks, two digs, and one service ace. In the 3-2, reverse-sweep victory over Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday, Donowa tallied 10 kills to go with a career-best seven blocks and four service aces as Queens earned their first ECC victory of the year.


Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Emma Wlostowski, D’Youville
Graduate Student | Libero | Alden, NY

Wlostowski led all ECC nominees for Defensive Player of the Week with 40 digs and 5.71 digs per set to lead D’Youville to a 2-0 weekend with wins over St. Thomas Aquinas and Mercy. Wlostowski had 31 of those digs against Mercy en route to reaching 1,000 career digs for her career.


Setter of the Week

Mitha Hatwar, D’Youville
Sophomore | Setter | Columbus, OH

Hatwar was a key player in both of the Saints’ ECC wins this weekend, dropping 28 against St. Thomas Aquinas and 41 against Mercy to average 9.86 assists per set.


Rookie of the Week

Madi Hathaway, Queens
Freshman | Setter/Right Side | Edmond, OK

Hathaway recorded 12 kills, 33 assists, 17 service aces, and 19 digs and her sixth double-double of the year in a 3-0 week for the Knights. In the 3-0 sweep over Holy Family, Hathaway set a new program record for the most aces in a single match as the rookie totaled 13, including six aces in the first set. Hathaway recorded the best three-set performance against other Division II competitions and the second most aces in Division II this year. In the Knights’ 3-2 ECC comeback victory over Roberts Wesleyan, the rookie notched 11 assists, eight digs, and three service aces as Queens opened ECC play on a winning note. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Despina Boudouris, Queens
Senior | Setter | Athens, Greece

In a 3-0 week for the Knights, Boudouris recorded 61 assists, 20 digs, five service aces, and three kills. In the 3-0 sweep over Holy Family on Wednesday, the senior recorded 12 assists and a career-best five service aces. In the Knights’ 3-2 ECC comeback victory over Roberts Wesleyan, Boudouris recorded a match-high 36 assists to go with six digs and one kill.

Jasmine Brundage, Daemen
Graduate Student | Libero | East Aurora, NY

Brundage totaled 34 digs (4.25 digs/set), 11 assists, three aces and a kill in Daemen's 2-0 weekend with ECC wins over Mercy and St. Thomas Aquinas. The graduate student libero posted a team-high 19 digs in the Wildcats' 3-1 victory over Mercy on Saturday afternoon and has double-digit digs in all 12 matches that she has played in this season. 

Kendall Conrad, Queens
Junior | Outside Hitter | Carrolltown, PA

Conrad recorded a team-high 42.5 points with 33 kills, 20 digs, 10 blocks, and three service aces in a 3-0 week for the Knights. Conrad recorded 18 digs, six digs, eight blocks, and two service aces in the two sweeps over CACC members Holy Family and Georgian Court. In the ECC opener against Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday, Conrad recorded her second double-double of the year with a season-high 15 kills, and 14 digs to go with two blocks and one service ace as Queens battled from a 0-2 deficit to earn 3-2 victory in ECC play. 

Alex Darby, D’Youville
Graduate Student | Outside Hitter/DS | Huntington, WV

Darby recorded 25 kills on the weekend including 17 against Mercy, marking a season-high. The Graduate student also recorded 17 dogs and 3 blocks on the defensive side. 

Aria Miller, Molloy
Sophomore | Libero | Miliani, HI

Miller reached double digit digs in both contest on the week, putting up 14 against Pace before adding 21 to start league play against Roberts Wesleyan. The libero added eight service aces against the Setters, totaling nine on the week, and put up five assists in both matches for Molloy. 

Julia Zalta, Molloy
Senior | Setter | Great Neck, NY

Zalta averaged 8.67 assists per set in a 2-0 week for Molloy, topping 35 in each contest. The graduate student had a double-double with 40 assists and 10 digs against Pace, adding three kills and two aces. Against Roberts Wesleyan, Zalta had 38 assists to go with eight digs, two kills, two aces, and two blocks.
