The 2023-24 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor National Champion and ECC Outdoor Champion, King placed third at the U.S. Olympic Trials at the University of Oregon's historic Hayward Field back on June 30 to earn a spot on Team USA alongside fellow pole vaulters Bridget Williams (Virginia '20) and Katie Moon (Ashland 2013), the latter of whom won gold in 2020. In dramatic fashion, King cleared a career-best 4.73 meters (15-feet, 6 1/4-inches) on her first attempt to meet the Olympic standard. Her spot on the team was then secured when 2016 Olympic silver medalist Sandi Morris missed all three of her attempts at 4.73 meters.

King joins her coach, Roberts Wesleyan pole vault coordinator Jenn Suhr, as an Olympian. Suhr, a 2004 Roberts graduate, is a three-time Olympian who won gold in 2012 and silver in 2008.
