ECC Baseball Report - Week Four

Player of the Week

Aidan Larkin, Molloy
Senior | Third Baseman | Huntington, N.Y.

Larkin continued to be a force in the heart of the Lions order this week. The senior reached base in all three games he started in while collecting a pair of three or more hit performances against Lynn and Southern Connecticut, respectively. To cap the week, the third basemen hit .583 (7-for-12), scored eight runs, and drove in three.


Pitcher of the Week

Nevin Scaperotti, Mercy
Freshman | Pitcher/Infielder | Stormville, N.Y.

Scaperotti pitched 7.2 shutout innings with just three hits allowed and seven strikeouts to earn his first collegiate win at Pace on Friday. 


Rookie of the Week

Charlie Imhof, Molloy
Freshman | Second Base | Merrick, N.Y.

Imhof provided a jolt to the Lions’ line-up in a 3-0 week. The freshman started the week reaching base in all four plate appearances in Molloy's win over Bentley, collecting three walks and an RBI single and finished the week with two home runs and six RBI against Southern Connecticut. To cap the week, the Merrick, N.Y. native hit .714 (5-for-7), drove in seven runs, scored five times, drew three walks, and hit his first two home runs of his career.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Zach Ashline, Mercy
Sophomore | Outfield | Colonie, N.Y.

Ashline hit .333 (4-for-12) with a team-high six RBI and two home runs with three runs scored in four games this week. The sophomore opened the week going 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored in the Mavericks' win over Pace on Friday. The outfielder then went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a home run at Pace on Saturday before ending the week going 2-for-5 with two RBI and an inside-the-park home run against Pace on Sunday. 

Nick Barreiros, Queens
Senior | Catcher |  Seaford, N.Y.

Barreiros went on a tear as he held a team-high batting average of .500, a slugging percentage of .800 with five hits, one home run, three RBI, two runs scored as he earned eight total bases with two multi-hit games, and one multi-RBI game against two regionally-ranked teams in Post and #25 Goldey-Beacom. In the thrilling comeback victory over Goldey-Beacom, the catcher went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and one run scored as Queens earned a 12-11 comeback victory.

Gregory DiGiaro, St. Thomas Aquinas
Graduate Student | Infielder | Staten Island, N.Y.

DiGiaro hit .333 (4-for-12) with three home runs, four RBI and five runs scored in STAC's four-game series with So. New Hampshire last weekend. The graduate student first baseman was also walked four times.

Matt Filip, Queens
Junior | First Base | Maspeth, N.Y.

Filip started all five games against two regionally-ranked opponents as he batted .462 with a slugging percentage of .692 with six hits, one home run, two RBI, four runs scored, and earned five walks and nine total bases. In the field, he would record 27 putouts with five assists. In the Friday doubleheader sweep over #25 Goldey-Beacom, the Maspeth, N.Y native recorded three runs scored and notched his second multi-hit game of the week as he went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored in the 8-4 nightcap victory as the Knights earned a 2-2 series split.

Ryan Hynes, Molloy
Senior | Pitcher | Stony Brook, N.Y.

Hynes was efficient in Molloy's 12-4 victory over Lynn on Saturday (Mar. 9). The left-hander threw five scoreless innings, scattering five hits while striking out seven to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Peter Nenadich III, Queens
Freshman | Pitcher | Bayside, N.Y.

In a game that saw 23 runs scored on 25 hits, Nenadich III delivered for the Knights in relief pitching 2.2 quality innings as he shut out the hot bats of #25 Goldey-Beacom, allowing only two hits with one strikeout to earn his second victory of his young career.
