Roberts Wesleyan's Brynn King Breaks National Record for Fourth Time

UTICA, N.Y. – Roberts Wesleyan's Brynn King has taken down the NCAA Division II national record in the indoor pole vault for the fourth time this season, recording a mark of 4.46m (14' 7 1/2") at the Utica-Hutton Sports and Rec Dome during the Utica Winter Open on Friday.

King remains the top vaulter in NCAA DII and has the second-, third-, and fourth-best marks in any division of the NCAA, trailing only Chloe Timberg of Rutgers (4.47m).

The Roberts Wesleyan standout had most recently dropped a 4.45m (14' 7 1/4") at the Sharon Anderson Memorial Invitational, held at the University of Toronto's Bruce Kidd Field House on January 6.

On December 8, one week after breaking the NCAA's fourteen-year-old Division II record in the indoor pole vault, King improved upon her own record mark, dropping a 4.42m (14 feet, 6 inches) at the Nazareth Alumni Opener Invitational at the Nazareth-Golisano Training Facility.

On December 1, King had broken the 14-year old NCAA record in her first-ever meet with the Redhawks while at the University Akron Haynes Lancaster Open, recording a mark of 4.41m. The record was previously held by Katelin Rains of Minnesota State, set on Feb. 21, 2009, with a vault of 4.40m.

King, who is a transfer student from Duke University, came to Roberts Wesleyan to train under Olympic gold medalist Jenn Suhr.
